HTC smartphones review of models. HTC U Ultra smartphone review: think for me. Productive filling of HTC One

When looking for a good mobile gadget, you should pay attention to HTC phones, all models, photos and prices of which can be found in almost any online store.

Each of them combines a fairly powerful processor, good cameras and a stylish design.

And many models have either been included in the list of the best before, or are still at the top of their category.

Moreover, unlike many brands, HTC offers mobile devices in almost all price categories - from inexpensive devices from under $100 to options that cost almost $500.

Let's see what fans of HTC smartphones most often choose...

Modern and productive HTC 10

One of the latest models from the manufacturer is the HTC 10 smartphone.

The 5.2-inch screen with QHD resolution (which gives a pretty good picture for a display of this size) is complemented by 12 and 5 megapixel extensions.

With their help, you can shoot video in 4K format and save RAW photos from maximum number image information.

Another advantage of the model is a powerful processor with 4 cores and 4 gigabytes of memory - ample characteristics for running powerful applications and games.

While it allows HTC 10 to work throughout the whole day with active use and up to a week in standby mode.

You can charge your smartphone battery using the function quick recovery Quick Charge 3.0, providing 50% charge in just 30 minutes.

  • cost: from 27 thousand rubles. for a model with 32 GB of memory and from 46 thousand rubles. for the 64 GB version.

HTC One (M8) – outdated, but still good

In 2014 the model HTC One M8 was one of best models in the smartphone market.

Now on sale you can find similar parameters - however, this device remains quite powerful and in demand.

And, although the built-in memory of 16 GB may not be enough for the user's requirements, it is easily expandable using flash cards.

High image quality(brightness, clarity and contrast) are ensured by using a Super LCD3 matrix with Full resolution HD. The model works in 3G and 4G networks, and the 2600 mAh battery allows you to use it for 6–8 hours.

The parameters of the main camera (4.1 megapixels) are not impressive, but the quality of its shooting is not inferior to a 5-megapixel device for “selfies” and, thanks to the large sensor, allows you to take bright photos with reduced sharpness.

Rice. 2. The HTC One M8 is a good device with mediocre photography parameters.

HTC One (M9) – best for photography

The flagship model of 2015, HTC One M9, has a 5-inch screen and a metal body.

Its differences are a powerful video accelerator that runs games of the latest generation, and an 8-core processor capable of processing huge amounts of data.

RAM and built-in memory, quite large for the year of manufacture of the equipment, are now quite normal characteristics for gadgets costing from 20 thousand rubles.

Screen with FullHD resolution protected by durable Gorilla Glass. A camera with a 20-megapixel sensor, effective autofocus and dual flash ensures high quality shooting. However, as testing of the device showed, some photos turned out a little worse compared to camera phones from competitors - Sony, Apple and Samsung. Although this only applies to indoor shooting, the camera produces fairly high-quality images in natural light.

Rice. 3. HTC One M8 – brand model with best camera.

HTC Desire 526G – simple, practical and inexpensive

Model HTC Desire 526 refers to budget segment . Moreover, its cost corresponds to the least known manufacturers.

Among the features of the gadget, it is worth noting a good case for such a price (the plastic practically does not crunch when used) and the ability to work or play directly while charging, thanks to the offset microSD input.

The smartphone is no different high quality images that do not reach not only FullHD, but even HD.

Both the battery and the Desire 526 processor have weak performance.

Only the main camera has decent quality - and although modern models are practically no longer equipped with 8-megapixel sensors, it is capable of shooting with a resolution of 1080p.

And even the two-megapixel front selfie camera allows you to shoot 720p video.

HTC One X9 – good sound, good photos

One of HTC's 2016 models, the One X9, is priced under $250.

The screen of the mobile gadget also has good characteristics - FullHD quality and a 5.5-inch diagonal make it possible to use the smartphone not only to perform its main task, but also to conveniently watch movies, surf the Internet and read books.

The all-metal case, protected from falls and shocks, has a stylish design.

A 13-megapixel camera with new generation optical stabilization technology and a powerful flash makes it possible to take photos with high clarity.

Additional advantage of the model– the presence of the BoomSound system for reproducing high-quality and clear sound. The proprietary audio processing algorithm is especially noticeable in games, although it makes it possible to make listening to your favorite music more comfortable. Moreover, 32 GB of built-in memory is enough to record 3-4 thousand songs with a bitrate of 320 kbps.

  • Cameras: main 13 megapixels, 5 megapixels for selfies. (with the ability to shoot FullHD video);
  • prices for a smartphone: from 15 thousand rubles.

HTC One M7 802W – a metal device with a bright screen

The One M7 802W cannot be called a flagship model.

However, the smartphone is far from being an outsider - the ability to work in 3G networks, a processor with 4 cores, 32 gigabytes of internal memory and 2 GB of RAM ensure convenient and fast work on the network and launching modern applications.

A thin monoblock in a stylish metal case hides the usual characteristics for the modern smartphone market and relatively weak cameras with a resolution of 4 and 2 megapixels. Although, if you use a smartphone to play video, its parameters - maximum FullHD resolution, high brightness and clarity, as well as high-quality sound thanks to the BloomSound system - are enough for comfortable viewing of any movie.

HTC One (A9) – stylish and well protected

Smartphone A9 from model range manufacturer HTC refers to mid-price category, possessing the same parameters that fully meet modern requirements, but have not been impressive for a long time.

The difference between the model is the presence of a fingerprint scanner and a 13-megapixel camera with high-definition shooting.

The metal case protects the gadget from falling on the back cover, and Gorilla Glass 4 protects from mechanical influences to the screen.

The five-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 ensures viewing of high-quality video. New operating room Android system 6.0 Marshmallow makes using your phone easier.

And the processor with support for 24-bit sound allows even avid music lovers to enjoy listening to music.

Rice. 7. Line of shades of the HTC A9 model.

HTC Desire 620G – powerful processor, weak memory

Mobile HTC phone Desire 620G can be called a fairly productive model for the requirements of three or four years ago. Now The parameters of the model are quite budget-friendly, as well as its price.

HD resolution and 1 GB of memory will not allow you to work with many modern applications– especially with games, despite the powerful eight-core processor.

However, these parameters are quite sufficient for regular work online, reading, listening to music and watching videos - especially given the bright screen made using IPS technology.

  • camera: 8 megapixel/5 megapixel;
  • cost: from 6 thousand rubles.

Rice. 8. Model HTC Desire 620G – despite its good power, it is not suitable for gamers.

HTC Desire 628 – a budget option with large memory

Another model from HTC is the Desire 628, which features a good design and a competitive price.

With its rather serious characteristics even compared to modern flagships (3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of flash memory and a processor with 8 cores), the model was in budget segment, and can be a profitable purchase for simple user, and for lovers of resource-intensive games.

An additional advantage of the gadget is the high-quality BoomSound stereo speakers, which are a distinctive feature of the brand. A controversial characteristic of the smartphone is its size.

Due to the large margins at the top and bottom, the five-inch Desire 628 model is not much smaller than phones with a 5.5-inch display.

Model capable of filming high quality video in FullHD format and take good photos. While the screen resolution allows viewing only HD videos.

Perhaps saving on the display is one of the reasons favorable price smartphone, since most other parameters are not inferior even to some flagships.

  • battery capacity: 2200 mAh;
  • gadget price: from 9500 rub.

Rice. 9. HTC Desire 628 – good opportunities for its price.

HTC Desire 630 – average parameters, average price

Not a bad purchase For a person who prefers to use, the parameters of which are not much inferior to models from the middle price category, the HTC Desire 630 will be.

With a quad-core processor and a good graphics chipset, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, this gadget will cost three times less than the flagships of the HTC brand.

Although it has a good 13-megapixel sensor as the main camera, and “selfies” can be taken with a 5-megapixel device.

It is possible that the reason is affordable price The smartphone, like the HTC 628 model, has a screen with HD resolution and a battery that allows it to work no more than 5-6 hours in active mode.

Rice. 10. HTC Desire 630 is a regular model with today’s standard parameters.

HTC Desire 820g is a good option for selfie lovers

A little outdated (as can be seen from the presence of only 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory), but still has a number of interesting characteristics HTC Desire 820g comes with powerful processor and a medium-capacity battery.

The display resolution of 5.5" is slightly lower than expected for such dimensions (only HD, despite the fact that modern flagships have long switched to FullHD and QHD), the body is made of plastic.

And the main advantages of the model can be called a selfie camera that takes photos with a resolution of 8 megapixels. – although to get a clear frame it is worth providing bright lighting.

Which one to choose?

Thanks to the wide range of smartphones offered by HTC, each user has the opportunity to choose and buy a device that suits him in price and functionality.

Moreover, there are still flagships on the market that were two or three years old, more affordable, but still meeting the requirements of even modern users.

And if you have the financial means, you can choose the latest models that are not inferior to the best smartphones from other well-known global manufacturers.

The previous year had seen numerous challenges and the company had to learn to work in difficult situations. Fortunately, financial difficulties do not seem to have affected the ability to produce great smartphones, such as HTC One.

The gadget brought interesting design solutions, an updated version of Sense UI and new camera, which gives a completely new approach to mobile photography.

HTC One comes with standard set accessories. The headphones are connected with an A/C adapter to use the included microUSB cable.

There is also a tool for removing the SIM card if necessary. , naturally, is not included in the kit, since the smartphone does not have a slot. The base version of the smartphone comes with 32GB of internal memory, which should be more than enough for most users.

The dimensions of the device are 137.4x68.2x9.3 mm, which makes it more compact, but at the same time, thicker than the Xperia Z (139x71x7.9 mm). Of course, the smartphone has a larger screen and protection from water, but the difference in size seems quite adequate to us.

Whole aluminum body certainly looks excellent from an aesthetic point of view and compares favorably with Samsung flagship. But the smartphone from the South Korean company has its own advantages: a replaceable battery and the ability to expand memory using microSD cards.

Coming to the weight of 143 grams, we have to say that the smartphone strikes a good balance between feeling heavy in the hand and being portable.

The combination of metal and glass gives the HTC One a premium look. At first glance, you can recognize the device as an HTC device, made in accordance with the design philosophy of its predecessors, but, obviously, more modern and with an increased margin of safety.

The new product will not look out of place in a store with luxury phones, Mobiados and other similar gadgets. Even clad in glass, stylish Sony Xperia The Z can't match HTC's compelling simplicity.

HTC One narrower than HTC One X , which makes it easier to work with.

The front surface of the device can be divided into three parts. The massive middle section includes a screen covered with Gorilla Glass 2, with aluminum strips on both sides. At the bottom of the screen there are touch keys – “Back” and “Home”.

Long-pressing the Home button launches Google Now, while double pressing opens the task switcher. The usual “Menu” key is missing.

To fill the missing “Menu” button, you can set a long press on the “Back” button. Above the screen is front camera, as well as a speaker that performs this role during a conversation, and light and proximity sensors.

The front camera on the HTC One is almost the same as on the Butterfly - a 2.1 megapixel sensor, can shoot video with Full HD resolution and is complemented by a mode.

New smartphone uses microSIM cards that are inserted into a slot on the left side of the smartphone. A special tool is included to remove the card.

On the right side of the smartphone there is a dual volume rocker, which is quite difficult to press as it is too flat. There is no camera shutter button, but this has become the norm now.

The microUSB port and microphone are located at the bottom. USB port has MHL support, so you can use it as an HDTV output and as a USB Host. The back of the phone features noise cancellation with a second microphone, which also monitors the volume of ambient noise and adjusts everything so that the receiving party hears you loud and clear.

The top of the phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a power/lock button. This button also acts as an IR emitter. There is a pre-installed application that allows you to control your TV and other equipment. After several years of oblivion, infrared ports seem to be making a comeback, but no longer as a means of data transmission.

In our opinion, placing the power button on the top of the smartphone is bad decision, since this is one of the most difficult to reach places on gadgets with large screens.

The back of the device is an aluminum plate, divided into three parts by a thin plastic line in accordance with the division of the front surface into the screen and speakers. The noise canceling microphone is at the very top.

But the camera, which is one of the most controversial decisions of the Taiwanese company, still deserves close attention. It has a 28mm wide-angle lens with F/2.0 aperture and 16:09, a 4-megapixel matrix with ultra-pixels. This is one of the boldest decisions since the PureView camera, but we'll talk about that later.

Performance and Software

HTC One is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset, which has a quad-core Krait 300 processor with clock frequency 1.7 GHz, graphics accelerator Adreno 320 and 2 GB RAM. Operating system – Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

Built-in memory 32 or 64 GB depending on version. It will not be possible to expand the memory because microSD slot not provided.

We'll start evaluating the gadget's performance with the BenchmarkPi and Linpack tests, which show processor performance in single- and multi-core modes, respectively. HTC came in third in both tests, but was very close to the Galaxy S4 and Optimus Pro G, which were ahead.

Geekbench 2 is a cross-platform composite test that allows you to compare the performance of the HTC One not only with Android devices, but also with the Apple 5. Here it also took third place, but was closer to second place than to fourth.

AnTuTu evaluates a little bit of everything. Samsung Galaxy The S4 was the winner again, but this time the HTC smartphone beat out the Optimus G Pro and ended up in second place.

The Quadrant test showed similar results: the first two places were taken by the Galaxy S4 and Optimus G Pro, and the third place was taken by the HTC One.

GLBenchmark 2.5 benchmark shows performance. We are conducting tests in Full HD off-screen mode, which will allow us to evaluate the strength of the Adreno 320 found in HTC One. The result is 34 frames per second; only the Galaxy S4 with 40 frames per second was able to beat the HTC smartphone.

Another test GPU – Epic Citadel. It works in the native screen resolution. Here the Taiwanese smartphone showed 56.4 frames per second and came close to the South Korean flagship with 57 frames per second. Keep in mind that both devices are capped at 60 frames per second, which means the difference is a little bigger than it seems.

Let's move on to web tests. SunSpider works with JavaScript . And here, the lower the score, the better the performance. However, it is known that manufacturers try to cheat this benchmark, so there is no need to take the situation so seriously HTC One in the middle of the table. Although, of course, there is no need to discard this.

Vellamo works with HTML 5. Smartphone here HTC performed well and took second place.

In general, HTC One showed good results. Although he did not take any first place, he was always close to the leaders. True, you can barely feel such small differences in real-world conditions.

HTC One is very well optimized and works great.

There is support for GPS/A-GPS/GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G, LTE, FM radio, HSPA+ and .

Screen

HTC One is equipped with a 4.7-inch touch display, made using Super LCD3 technology, with a pixel density of 469 ppi. Its resolution is 1920x1080 pixels.

Now screens have reached such a level that an increase in any parameters cannot always be seen. So, in our case, the difference, for example, between 469 ppi in HTC and 401 ppi in LG Optimus G Pro is not so easy to see.

Taiwanese company installs great screens V lately and the display in the new product is simply another example of this. Contrast is certainly impressive, and viewing angles are very wide (there is no color shift, although there is a slight loss of contrast at extreme viewing angles).

The only negative is not very good readability in sunlight.

Camera

HTC One comes with a camera that is one of a kind. This is only the second smartphone with optical stabilization.

The ultra pixels used here are twice the size of the pixels in the 808 PureView and iPhone 5.

Larger pixels mean lower noise and generally better dynamic range. In low light, optical image stabilization (OIS) also helps, as we saw in Nokia Lumia 920.

The sensor used in HTC One has a 1/3” diagonal with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and is installed behind a 5-element lens with an F/2.0 aperture. The camera allows you to take pictures with a resolution of 2688x1520 pixels, but when switching to the traditional 4:3 format it is limited maximum resolution up to 2048x1520 pixels, which corresponds to approximately 3 megapixels.

HTC has included a second generation ImageChip to process images captured from the camera.

The Taiwanese manufacturer continues the practice of using a single camera interface for photos and videos. We initially didn't like this very much on the One X, but the trend makes more sense here as the camera's default resolution now matches video at 16:9.

So let's get down to business. HTC One promises a lot, but what will it actually deliver? It all depends on specific situation. When using the gadget in good lighting conditions, the low resolution takes its toll - the overall resolution is limited, although the level of detail is good.

Colors are quite decent and the image looks good at up to 100% magnification, but we were surprised by a lot of noise. Purple halos appear, which also moves the photo away from the ideal one. Overall, we've found ultrapixel gaming to be underperforming in good lighting conditions. Almost all other high-end smartphones will take their best photos when there is enough light.

Everything changes in low light conditions. Ultrapixels and optical stabilization made it possible to get excellent shots late at night that will surpass the quality of photos taken on other high-end devices.

HTC One has HDR support for photos and videos.

At the end of the camera testing, we prepared an example of macro photography. The smartphone performed very well here, and we were able to get great pictures.

Smartphone HTC One allows you to shoot video with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels at a frequency of 30 frames per second. He has support HDR for video, but note that in this mode the frame rate drops to 28 per second. The phone also supports video recording with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels at an increased frequency of 60 frames per second.

The video is recorded in MP4 format with a bitrate of 20 Mbps - this is one of the highest rates that we had the opportunity to see. Stereo audio is recorded at a bitrate of 192 Kbps and a sampling rate of 48 kHz.

As it turned out, video recording can be called one of the main advantages of a smartphone. The picture turns out to be very detailed with low level noise There are minor problems with color reproduction, but optical stabilization makes the video very good in quality.

Here is an example of Full HD video.

The smartphone has a 2.1 megapixel front camera for video communication.

Battery

One of the features of HTC One is a 2300 mAh lithium-polymer battery, which is mounted inside a metal unibody case. That is, it is non-replaceable, but the capacity is larger than in the HTC Butterfly and the same as in the Sony Xperia Z.

HTC did not provide any official time data battery life gadget. But our special battery testing showed an average result of 48 hours of operation, if you use the device for an hour a day for web browsing, video and telephony.

Price

HTC One price Russian market– 29990 rubles. This price tag has become commonplace for new flagship devices.

HTC One video review:

HTC, as they say, has not been the same for a long time. Once upon a time, the company fought on equal terms with Samsung, LG, Sony and - oh, there were times - Nokia, and even against the “real” Chinese (this is Taiwan, after all!) Not looked down on them, but simply didn’t notice them. Now the company does not find itself among largest manufacturers smartphones. Last year, the ice seemed to break a little, but did not have any impact on the situation (at least positive), but impressed journalists, entering all sorts of top smartphones of the year, and showed that HTC still knows how to do good smartphones... but also did not bring any special dividends.

Is it time to take drastic measures? Maybe it's time. Should the release of HTC U Ultra, an “additional flagship”, be considered such a measure? Let's talk about this too. The company does not rely on it technical features(additional display, ultra-pixel front camera) or atypical design, and on software capabilities Sense platforms and virtual assistant Sense Companion in particular. HTC U Ultra immediately begins to bombard with endless updates and offer its help in various situations - HTC also decided to take a ride on the now fashionable machine learning. Remembering the times when the Sense shell was truly advanced and seemed like a real salvation compared to the very ugly “pure” Android, I still want to ask one more question at the start: does the user need a Google Now backup?

Design, ergonomics and software

Today smartphones with metal back cover can also be found in the “I’ll take it for change” price category. Serious companies have begun to actively study the topic of glass - Samsung and Huawei (Honor) models are covered with it on both sides, and now HTC has caught up. The front glass is slightly sloping closer to the edges - 2.5D. The rear panel is curved even more noticeably - all for the sake of less visual thickness. The plan is slightly disrupted by the camera protruding strongly above the body - by the way, we are already starting to get out of the habit of such tricks. This is all the more strange since the smartphone itself is actually not very thin - 8 mm. Many competitors are teetering on the brink of seven millimeters.

The problem with glass devices is traditional - glossy surfaces very actively collect fingerprints. This also applies to the white version, which we received for testing, and even more so to the most spectacular blue one, which flashes on all advertising brochures. It is also very, very impressive in person - I was able to see it closely at MWC 2017. But what is also impressive is how quickly the glass gets dirty - you will have to wipe it constantly.

But that's not so bad. The situation is much worse with the front glass. It looks like they forgot to make an oleophobic coating for it - with a similar stain to me recent years never encountered.

HTC U Ultra, back panel: camera lens protruding above the body, unit with laser autofocus illumination and dual LED flash. Another microphone is visible below

Another feature of the HTC U Ultra is that it is very large. Yes, this is expected for a device with a 5.7-inch display, but here the situation is aggravated by the presence of a hardware Home key and an additional screen. Well, a negative background for U Ultra is represented by the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, where, on the contrary, they abandoned frames almost completely - and smartphones, in fact, can be used with one hand. I would like to call U Ultra the word “phablet”, but still we will not stoop to such meanness.

Having gotten used to the size of a smartphone, you pay attention to its specific features - for example, an additional display slightly higher than the main one. Similar solution we have already seen it performed by LG - on models , and X View. Here the idea is implemented in the same way - the screen is located on the side of the front camera.
