Mobile communications. Unlimited mobile Internet in Goa Cellular communications in India MTS

If you want to use telephone and Internet communications in India, then it makes sense to get a local SIM card, since roaming with a Russian SIM card will cost you very much. The three most popular mobile operators in Goa are Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.

Communications in India are quite well developed and they are quite cheap. Many parts of India have 4G, but unfortunately Goa only has 3G.

Necessary documents for obtaining a SIM card

So, to get a SIM card in Goa and register it in your name, you will need:

  1. Color photo(if you don’t have it with you, they will make it for you for 50 rupees on the spot).
  2. Foreign passport and copy home page with photo(if there is no copy, they will make one for you for 10 rupees).
  3. Address and telephone number of the owner of the house where you are staying(they will call him and check whether you really live at this address).
  4. Money(100 rupees for connection + money for the selected tariff).

Tariffs and cost of calls

Communication tariffs are different and depend on the amount of Internet traffic you need, as well as the number of minutes of calls.

For example, a tariff for 401 rupees per month includes:

  • 1 GB Internet 3G for 1 month;
  • all incoming calls are free, including from Russia;
  • 1 minute of conversation to Russia 6-7 rupees;
  • 1 minute on an Indian number – 1 rupee;
  • sms within India (7 sms) – 5 rupees;
  • for the first 7 days 35 free SMS are given;

This SIM card is valid for 3 months. When you buy a SIM card, it is not activated. To activate it, cellular employees need to bring documents to the operator’s company. This takes approximately 2-3 days. On the fourth day, you come to the same address and it will be activated for you.

What alternatives are there so as not to wait for the SIM card to be activated?

There are many offers to buy already activated SIM card. Naturally, they will not be issued in your name and will cost much more.
For example, travel agencies during a transfer may offer you the purchase of such a SIM card, or local residents in tents, or even the tourists themselves who have settled and live there.

Which option you use is, of course, up to you.

How to call

  • If you call to Russia, dial the number via +7.
  • If you call Indian numbers, all you need to do is dial a ten-digit number.
  • To call your Indian number from Russia, you need to dial +91 and then the ten-digit number.
  • If you bought a SIM card in Goa, then when you travel to another state, roaming will be activated and the payment will be higher.

How to check your balance

  • Airtel - *123#
  • Vodafone- *141# or *111*2# (the rest of the Internet traffic is *111*6*2#)
  • Idea- *212# (remaining Internet traffic - *125#)

How to top up your balance

The balance can be topped up at the same store where you bought the SIM card or at any other point of sale of cellular communications. Wait for the money to arrive in your account before leaving the salon. And keep in mind that not the entire amount that you give for replenishment may appear on your balance, because... Intermediaries often increase the cost and take the difference for themselves.

Fast, stable, inexpensive, and most importantly unlimited mobile internet in Goa, and throughout India, what could be better? And is this even possible in principle? In this post I will talk about our experience of using mobile Internet from the company Jio Reliance, tariffs, coverage area, how to top up your balance, as well as about a mobile wireless router JioFi.

Mobile operator Jio Reliance

Basically, judging by posts on the Internet, all visitors to India use mobile Internet from operators IDEA And Vodafone, that's what we were going to do this time. Why did we purchase two SIM cards for these purposes? Vodafone. But then I remembered that I had read an article that a certain Indian mobile operator Jio Reliance gives all its customers, including new ones, three months of free mobile Internet. It’s decided – we have to take it!

Jio Reliance India's largest operator and, as their website proudly states, has the largest telecommunications network in the world. At the moment they are customer base has more than 100 million people! But the company is not going to stop there and, with the help of outright dumping (more on prices below), is capturing more and more market shares.

Jio Reliance operator coverage area

Since we were not going to sit in one place, the question arose about cellular network coverage Jio in India. I didn’t find any information about this on the official website, everything is limited to general phrases like “we work in all states of India” or “almost all” and so on.

A site was also discovered on the Internet with information about covering all mobile operators peace! But there is very little information there, it is outdated or incomplete, but, in any case, we managed to find out that Jio It will definitely work on the coast of the states of Kerala and Karnataka - already bread. So I decided to put on my own map the points where the network is from Jio Reliance definitely works, so to speak, based on my own experience. You can see the result below; over time, of course, the map will be supplemented.

At the moment, it has been precisely verified that mobile Internet Jio operates in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and New Delhi. As you can see, with a coating Jio Reliance everything is fine. I came across reviews on the Internet that mobile Internet Jio does not work in Goa, but, in fact, it turned out that everything is in order and to 2017 year, civilization finally reached the smallest state in India.

Mobile Wi-Fi router JioFi from Jio Reliance

Arriving in Kovalam at the end of January, we discovered a “cell junk shop” with a proud sign Jio. The store seller was also aware of the promotion and said that it would be valid until the end of March, this suited us quite well, two months, of course, not three, but still a lot. There were two options for purchase: just a SIM card for 2000 INR and SIM card with mobile WiFi router behind 3500 INR.

To be fair, it should be noted that the price of such a mobile router on the website Jio equal to 1999 INR, but what can you do - the offer is still good.

UPD: As we expected, prices in Kerala were greatly inflated, for example, later in Dharamsala we found SIM cards and routers from Jio for 600 and 2600 rupees, respectively.

Appearance and equipment of the JioFi router

You probably already realized that we chose the option with a mobile router, it’s just that a SIM card is boring, but here is a whole new device to study. Yes, and damn, he's just beautiful! One of those things that you want to own and just feel good to hold in your hands. This device is called simply - JioFi. The proud inscription on the device states that the design of this product was developed in India and assembled in Vietnam. Well, what can I say, well done - it turned out to be a good device.

On the router JioFi There are simple controls: two buttons and three indicators. The first button is responsible for turning the device on and off, the second ( WPS) for connecting other devices via WiFi without password. Now let's go through the indicators, as I said, there are only three of them: battery, mobile connection and wi-fi. Each indicator can glow in one of three colors: red, blue or green. Everything is simple here, if something is wrong (low battery, poor reception, etc.) the indicator turns red, if everything is good it turns green, and the average value turns blue.

The box from the router deserves special mention; such packaging immediately attracts attention, not only with its unusual shape, but also with the quality of execution. Inside, in addition to the device itself, there are: battery – 2600 mAh(by the way, it is enough for a whole day of constant operation of the device), cable Micro USB, network charger and instructions with a guarantee. Charging has an output USB and standard voltage - 5 Volt and current strength - 1 Ampere, so you can safely use it to charge your loved one iPhone. But with the power supply of the router JioFi Problems arose from other charges, i.e. It may be charging, or it may not, I don’t understand what this is connected with. Conclusion, it’s better not to lose the original charger.

Setting up and operating a JioFi router

In fact, there is no need to perform any shamanism with a tambourine or any activation of the device or tariff. The SIM card is sold already activated and registered to an Indian, so the store gives you a fully working device, which you can start using immediately after purchase. By the way, except for the SIM card inside JioFi Can also accommodate a memory card MicroSD and thus get a wireless flash drive for your phone or tablet.

Before settings JioFi can be reached through your browser, just type the address in the bar http://jiofi.local.html and you get to the statistics page, where you can see a bunch of information you don’t need. To get to the settings page, you need to enter your login and password; by default, the word is assigned to both administrator.

By the way, in the settings JioFi you can change not only this password if it does not suit you, but also the name WiFi networks and a bunch of other things, everything is the same as in the settings of a regular router, well, maybe a little poorer.

Mobile Internet tariffs from Jio Reliance

Now let's talk about tariffs. All SIM cards from Jio sold with tariff Jio Happy New Year Offer, according to which per day you are entitled to:

  • 1GB mobile internet;
  • 1GB Wi-Fi internet(when connected to access points Jio);
  • 100 SMS;

The most important thing is that after the daily limit is exhausted, the Internet does not disappear, but remains available to you at speed 128 kbps. Until this moment, the Internet is working at full capacity. The maximum speed that I was able to record is about 20 Mbit/s, you see, it’s not bad at all for India, but from LTE network you can expect speeds higher (stated maximum speed 150 Mbit/s) Let me remind you that such happiness should have lasted until 31.03.2017 .

In principle, at this time, other tariffs were not available, but if the allotted gigabyte of Internet per day is not enough for you, you can always buy another one for 51 INR or as many as six for 301 INR. SMS and call packages are also available 201 INR And 501 INR, respectively. In principle, you don’t have to bother with all this at all, but just buy a router and use it unlimited internet, without thinking about money, replenishing your balance and tariffs, especially if you spend less than 1 gigabyte of traffic per day.

But what to do when the freebie runs out, i.e. after 31.03.2017 ? Around mid-March, information appeared about new tariffs from Jio, which will be available to users after the end of the New Year's promotion. At the moment, the set of tariffs has already changed and it’s not a fact that they won’t do this again in the near future, but for clarity, I have brought all the currently available tariffs into one table, let’s take a look:

Traffic volume Validity period Price
200MB total 1 day 19 rupees
600MB total 3 days 49 rupees
1GB total 7 days 96 rupees
2GB total 28 days 149 rupees
1GB per day 56 days 309 rupees
10GB per month 56 days 349 rupees
1GB per day 84 days 399 rupees
2GB per day 56 days 509 rupees
90GB total 90 days 999 rupees
155GB total 120 days 1999 rupees
380GB total 210 days 4999 rupees
780GB total 390 days 9999 rupees

This is such beauty when compared with mobile Internet tariffs from IDEA or Vodafone which I cited in, it is clear that prices range from Jio at the same level or even lower.

What is also captivating is that after the selected daily limit, the Internet does not disappear, but remains available at speed 128 Kbps, plus in each tariff you have access to unlimited voice communication and an SMS package. To monitor daily traffic consumption, tariffs, balance, and so on, it makes sense to use a special mobile application or website. More information about available tariff plans can be found here.

MyJio Mobile App

Initially during installation MyJio A problem arose on the phone, which, to be honest, I didn’t know how to solve at first. The fact is that when you first launch the program, you will be asked to enter your phone number and password from the SMS. At the same time, we have a SIM card installed in the router JioFI and no SMS messages arrive there, but what’s even worse is that you don’t know your mobile number Jio. Those. it's just not written down anywhere.

Ok, we insert the SIM card into the phone and... No, it works and you can even use the mobile Internet, but calls and SMS are not available. I still don’t understand why, either the New Year’s tariff includes only mobile Internet, and packages with SMS and calls need to be purchased separately, or it’s just my old one iPhone does not support VoLTE (Voice LTE– voice communication over the network LTE).

But as it turned out, if the SIM card Jio installed on your phone, the application will let you in without a login and password. And there you can already find out your number and set a login and password in order to use the application in the future without installing a SIM card in your phone for this purpose. By the way, in the application, you can see the name of the very Indian to whom your SIM card is registered.

The ability to see the remaining traffic for the day is very good, but initially it was planned that through the application I would be able to top up my balance and connect various options and tariffs. Unfortunately, the plans were not destined to come true; not a single card of Russian banks from those traveling with us suited the application MyJio. It was also not possible to make a payment from your personal account on the Jio.com website, apparently due to in this case, an Indian bank card is required. In general, history repeats itself, as with .

Since we are talking about the website Jio.com, it is necessary to add a few words about it. To log in to your personal account use the same username and password that you set for the application. After authorization, you will have access to the same functionality as in MyJio.

Besides standard application To check and top up your balance, you can download a whole set of specialized applications from Jio Reliance with music, films, magazines and a bunch of other useful and not so useful things. To be honest, I didn’t install these applications, because I don’t see much point in them, but for residents of India, I think this is a very nice bonus.

How to recharge Jio balance

If you can’t top up your balance via the Internet, you’ll have to do it the old fashioned way. Everything is simple here, find a shop or some stall with all sorts of “cellular things” and the inscription Jio, come in, give your number and the tariff you want to connect, give the seller the amount of rupees you need and that’s it.

We performed this operation while already in Arambol. If you're interested, the store where this action took place is located Here. The seller immediately connected the tariff we needed from his phone, there were no problems, and we didn’t have to wait either. Oh yes, despite the fact that the SIM card was purchased in Kerala, no problems were noticed with replenishment or work in Goa, there is also no such thing as roaming.

Instead of a conclusion

The bottom line is, even with some problems, which are mainly related to “dampness” mobile application, Jio Reliance, Maybe, best solution at the moment, if you need fast, stable, inexpensive, and most importantly unlimited mobile Internet in Goa, and in India in general.

The internet situation in Goa is very sad. But nevertheless, it exists, and therefore what follows is a description of our experience of interacting with the Indian Internet, both mobile and not so much.

Mobile Internet

So, upon arrival in Goa, it is recommended to immediately get a SIM card, otherwise you may simply be left without the Internet. The likelihood that the guest house you check into will have Wi-Fi is close to zero. Not everything is smooth and with coverage from local cellular operators, so it is recommended to buy several SIM cards at once to check which one works best in your place of residence. In my opinion, if you live in the Arambol beach area, manipulating various SIM cards is unlikely to help you, since all the cell phone towers here are concentrated behind a gas station away from the sea, which means that the closer to the beach you live, the worse your experience will be. 3G will work for you, no matter what mobile operator you have.

However, we decided to buy all the SIM cards from the “Big Goan Three”: Vodafon, IDEA, And Airtell. Where we went, cards Airtell there weren't, but there were some Aircell, which they refused to sell to us, citing the fact that in the Arambol beach area this operator has suspended its work and does not have any Internet packages at all. All this sounds quite strange, but do not take away the SIM card by force. Yes, I almost forgot, to purchase a SIM card you must have your passport and photograph with you!

When buying a SIM card in Goa, you will definitely be offered two activation options: the first, you pay 500 rupees and receive 355 rupees in your account and 1 Gigabyte of mobile Internet, but you will have to wait 2-3 days for activation, or the second, the same options and activation instantly, but for 600 rupees (this is in October, in November they are already asking for 800). All this is true for both Vodafon so for IDEA. We chose instant activation and, upon arriving home, immediately conducted a comparison test:

Here it may seem that IDEA a clear favorite, but numerous tests have proven that the situation, depending on the time of day, wind strength or something else, can change to the opposite. The only thing that always remains constant is Ping. IDEA it is always above 100 ms, and this is bad for programs like Skype, where delays are critical.

After thinking, we decided that we would leave the SIM card IDEA in a USB modem, and SIM cards Vodafon on phones. We took the modem with us from Russia so as not to spend money on it on the spot. Although it is designed to work only with MTS SIM cards, with the help of simple manipulations it can be made “omnivorous”, if anyone is interested in how, you can read here. Another useful thing that it would be good to always have with you is adapters for various types and SIM card sizes. With these things, by cutting the SIM card down to the smallest nano-sim, you can use it in any device, no matter what size they need a SIM card.

Now about tariffs, oddly enough, Vodafon And IDEA they are almost identical. In general, the number of options for Internet packages that you can connect is off the charts, so in the table I will list some for the operator Vodafon, to understand the order of prices:

Traffic volume Validity period Price
250 Megabytes 28 days 99 rupees
1 Gigabyte 28 days 249 rupees
2 Gigabytes 28 days 449 rupees
5 Gigabytes 28 days 847 rupees
5 Gigabytes 90 days 947 rupees
10 Gigabytes 28 days 1247 rupees

By the way, connecting different tariffs is very simple, right from the on-screen menu: dial *111# For Vodafon or *122# For IDEA and then sending the numbers, select various options. It looks something like this:

We seem to have sorted out the mobile Internet, let’s move on to the not-so-mobile one.

Wired Internet

There are two main operators in Goa wired internet BSNL(ADSL technology) and Gwave(optics). If you are lucky, your place of residence will have Internet access from one of these providers. We were “lucky” twice and the guest house and our new home were connected to BSNL, but why in quotes? The point is that the provider BSNL very tricky and each tariff has a limit on the number of megabytes downloaded (Stone Age, I agree). Those. at the beginning of each month, you have access to a speed of 2 Mbps and 6 GB of traffic (depending on the tariff plan), but after all gigabytes have been selected (and this will happen very soon), you will see the following message:

And to you, that is. the owner of the house will need to add more money to his account in order to buy a few more gigabytes at full speed, of course he will not do this and for the rest of the month you will have to be content with a speed of 512 Kbps, which is very sad for several people.

If you are luckier than us, then in your home (or guesthouse) there will be Internet from Gwave. This provider has no limit on downloaded megabytes, so you can enjoy an honest 2 or 4 MB/s for a whole month. Naturally, the tariffs of this provider are higher than those of BSNL, therefore, as I understand it, Indians are not very eager to connect to it.

So, for now these are all the types of the Internet that we have managed to get acquainted with here in Goa, if we test something new, we will definitely write about it.

Telecommunications in India is one of the fastest growing sectors of the economy. There is a government program in which the development of telecommunications is declared a state priority. Today there are almost a billion telephone subscribers in India.

Landline telephone services in India are provided by two state-owned companies, MTNL and BSNL. Fixed-line users are mainly government agencies. Residents of the country and private businesses, however, give preference cell phones, which to a certain extent explains the more reasonable price of mobile calls.

Currently, in the country, including the state of Goa, there are 14 fiercely competing mobile and Internet operators, the most famous of which are: Vodafone, Airtel, Idea, BSNL, Aircel, Reliance, Tata DoCoMo.

The best option telephone communication for foreign tourists in Goa who wants to use his own phone, these are prepaid services mobile operators. Calls to Russia from local cellular networks are much cheaper than roaming calls from Russian operators, some of which, by the way, do not support this service in Goa. Tariffs for both incoming and outgoing calls in roaming from Russian operators start at 100 rubles per minute, SMS about 20, and a call from Goa to Russia from any local network costs 6-7 rubles per minute, SMS - 3-4 rubles, calls and SMS within Goa - less than a ruble.

Buy a prepaid SIM card You can find them in the offices of cellular companies and travel agencies; they are also sold in supermarkets and hotels. According to reviews, the best coverage in Goa, Vodafone, Airtel and Idea are different. To connect to the network of any operator, you will be required to provide copies of significant pages of your international passport and one or two passport-size photographs. Copies are usually made on site. Since September 2012, India has introduced restrictions on the sale of SIM cards to foreigners. Tourists are issued SIM cards for the duration of the visa, but not longer than 3 months. That is, if you have a visa for a longer period, then you will have to buy a new oneSIMmap.

To top up your balance need to purchase a voucher ( recharge voucher), they are sold almost everywhere. It is also possible to top up in cash - at the offices of mobile operators or travel agencies. It is recommended to top up your balance only full talk time. This means that you will receive in your balance exactly the same amount that you paid. Some operators have commissions for replenishing your balance.

International landline connection available at points STD-ISD-PCO, which are widespread, especially in the resort area of Goa. Usually such points are recognized from afar by their yellow signs. The service is convenient because it is paid after the conversation, in cash, the rate is per second, and the current time and cost of the call are reflected on the display next to the phone. A call to Russia from the STD/ISD/PCO network costs 9-10 rubles per minute.

Dialing a phone number.

When going to India, you need to be prepared for local flavor in everything. The mentality is reflected not only in the leisurely and very original service, but also in the level of communication. You shouldn’t count on affordable and good internet in Goa. There are often emergency situations where it is impossible to apply the necessary settings to your equipment.

Internet in Goa: mobile or WiFi

You shouldn’t count on Wi-Fi, even if the hotel claims it is available: no one can guarantee you a normal connection. One router can have a couple of dozen users, which reduces the speed significantly, and mobile communications in India are convenient due to their relative independence from where they are.

Internet cafe

Considering low level income of the Indian population, the Internet in Goa is available in special cafes equipped with rare equipment. The cars in them are old with a whole set of associated problems and risks. In some cases, you can connect from your laptop. Internet cafes are everywhere. Their services are in demand. Spending an hour online costs about $1.

WiFi

This is the most popular service, increasing the cost of rental housing, as well as the attractiveness of sheks and cafes for tourists. Therefore, Wi-Fi is gradually becoming an integral part of any public place. The speed is different everywhere. The quality of the connection leaves much to be desired. Terms of use vary between establishments. For example: the first half hour can be used for free, then an hour for up to $1.

Roaming or local SIM card?

India lives in a slightly different dimension. When you arrive here, you should remember that not all operators support roaming. For others it will be expensive. From 1.5 to 2 $/min.

Even for a short trip, it is advisable to purchase several SIM cards. To do this, you will need a photocopy of your passport and a couple of photographs. Some ask you to fill out a form and even call you back to confirm the information provided. Activation requires knowledge English language. If you are weak with this, do it at the place of purchase.

Several SIM cards will be required due to the specifics of cellular communications in India: coverage is not uniform everywhere. In remote corners of Goa, there may be no signal from local companies at all, not to mention roaming.

What mobile and internet operators are there?

All cellular operators provide Internet traffic of varying quality.

4G is being gradually introduced in India. Progress has also reached Goa. JIO is available for the local population. The cost is $2.5 per month for 120 GB. The project is private and is a privilege of Indians.

There are plans to provide free SIM cards for tourists at the state level, but for now the top three market leaders include commercial ones:

  • Airtel;
  • Vodafone;

There are about 14 of them in total. The next echelon behind the leaders is:

  • Reliance;
  • BSNL;
  • Aircel.

Packages for tourists - only with prepayment. They have a limited validity period corresponding to the expiration date of the visa. In order for the number to be valid permanently, an additional payment is required to ensure lifetime validity. About $15.

Airtel

Beeline users, after arriving in Goa, will find that they have automatically connected to Airtel. For roaming, the minimum balance should be about 600 rubles. Others are available upon special request.

Airtel provides normal coverage, some better, some worse, just like cellular communications in Goa in general. Internet is configured on a 3G-enabled phone. Points of sale will definitely offer a modem. Try experimenting with your smartphone first.

Idea

Cellular connection Idea provides better coverage than Airtel, but the quality is good only for calls. Internet traffic depends on the purchased package, time of day and even wind direction. It is better to purchase with a modem provided by Idea, otherwise there may be difficulties with the settings.

Vodafone

One of the cellular giants in India. You should not expect an attentive and reverent attitude towards clients. You can find any option in the packages. Be prepared for several applications to load that regularly reset your account balance to zero. To turn them off, you will have to spend time and nerves.

BSNL

BSNL's position in mobile telephony in India is mediocre. He is among the top five. Unlike competitors, it is not yet ready to provide 4G to customers. In Goa, it is interesting to have the opportunity to provide wired Internet with fairly reasonable tariffs.

Aircel

Aircel's cellular coverage covers predominantly the northern and south-eastern states of India, but is gradually coming to Goa. 4G technologies are being actively developed.

Which mobile and internet operator should you choose?

Interruptions in cellular communications require tourists to take precautions: spend money and buy at least two SIM cards. Internet in Goa is best provided by the leaders Airtel, Vodafon, Idea. When choosing, it is better to build on them. With patience, you may even be able to file claims against the work.

If you do not plan to leave the hotel and travel far beyond your beach, buy a SIM card from a company whose coverage extends to the territory of your residence.

The signal is traditionally better in the center of a village or city and deteriorates greatly on the coast.

Communication quality

Airtel has good coverage in central Goa. In the north - Idea is suitable. Vodafon has approximately the same signal strength throughout the state.

All operators are guilty of spam. Get ready, your number will receive a dozen SMS with all kinds of commercial offers per day.

Important nuances

Internet in Goa comes with the purchase of a SIM card for making calls.

Additionally, the purchase of a telephone or modem for yours is often imposed. There are often cases when standard Indian settings cannot be applied to your equipment.

Purchasing a SIM card as of the 2016–2017 season with standard options: GB of Internet and about 3 hours of local calls will cost up to $10. A call to your home country costs no more than 20 cents. Calling within Goa costs about 1 cent. Activation takes up to 2-3 days. The standard cost of a modem is about $10. The router will cost up to $45.

The price of the packages varies, but there are no big differences between them.

There is no unlimited internet in Goa. Communication companies in their package offers limit the speed or volume of downloaded information.

For those who plan to stay for a long time in Goa

Expats from other countries and winterers face serious difficulties when moving to Goa for a long time. Despite the fact that the service is improving year after year, the quality of communication is growing slowly. Good internet in Goa still remains a dream for our compatriots. There are several steps you can take to ensure you have the connectivity you need:

  1. Rent a house with an extended line and agree in advance to pay for it yourself. As a rule, the owner buys the cheapest package. The paid GB is enough for literally a few days. Then the supplier demands additional payment, reducing the speed to a minimum, and this continues until the next month.
  2. Conduct the Internet yourself. Depending on the distance, this is an expensive but reliable option. The range is large - from $30 to $300. Useful if you work remotely. There will be a choice of which package to pay for.
  3. Get to know the owner of the house better and buy Jio on his behalf or with his help. It will be cheap and cheerful. The main thing is to have coverage.

The situation with cellular communications or Internet quality cannot change overnight. But if you have questions, it is better to clarify them on the official websites of Indian operators operating in Goa.

Frequently asked questions and answers

Where to eat in Goa home Wi-Fi, which works without interruption and at an acceptable speed?

If you decide not to buy a local SIM card, you have enough money in your account to activate roaming, and you don’t expect to actively move around Goa, you can only count on good Wi-Fi when booking hotel rooms high class or when renting housing from Europeans who have been living in India for a long time. Only they provide acceptable Internet speed and quality for an appropriate fee. Tested empirically.

If you are planning a trip to other states of India, does it change? tariff plan? If so, which card do you recommend buying so that it’s not expensive?

The tariff plan for a SIM card purchased in Goa is valid within the state. When leaving the country, interstate roaming is enabled. The cost of calls abroad, as a rule, remains the same, but the price for a conversation with a subscriber in Goa increases 2-3 times.

How can I top up my balance in another state?

Cash is actively used to replenish the account. In Goa, cards are sold on every corner. If you use a local number, they can be purchased in advance. Otherwise, when traveling outside the state, you will have to use the Internet to pay.

Goa, waves, sun and shanti. Everything else is unimportant. There is no need to place high demands on communications. After all, you have arrived in a tropical paradise, which has a completely different purpose: work and news can wait.
