What is cambric?

These are small insulators that can be made from a variety of materials. The main part of the cambrics is made of polyvinyl chloride or, more simply, PVC. But on the market you can find cambrics made of other materials. For example, resin-impregnated fiberglass fabric that is coated with a variety of polymers. For the production of heat-shrinkable cambrics, polyethylene and other polymer materials are used.

Heat-shrinkable casing is a soft tube that is used as an insulating material for various live cables, and the voltage should not exceed a thousand volts.

Often, cambrics are used when it is necessary to restore the insulating shell, after repair or installation work, in places of connectors and connections. The cambric can be used not only for passive elements (for example, resistors), but also for current-carrying elements. The casing reliably protects wires, cables, connecting units from mechanical damage, corrosion, and fractures. At the same time, cambrics can be used as a marking tool, due to the fact that the cambric can be yellow, red, white, green - the wires can thus be marked.

Scope of application

Both types of cambric are tubes of a certain length. The cambric stretches very poorly in length, but it stretches well in width, which allows you to put the cambric on the wire where the soldering took place.

Heat-shrinkable PVC casing has maximum diameter expansion.

How to use?

The cambric is heated, after which it shrinks, thus tightly wrapping the wire, resulting in reliable protection from mechanical damage, moisture, and also provides insulation. In this case, there is no need to adjust the soldering to the overall diameter of the wire; the difference between the soldering and the wire can be 1.7-1.8 times, that is, the soldering can be almost one and a half times wider, and reliable insulation will still be ensured.
