Creating effects in Photoshop. Filters submenu “Noise How to make a noise effect in Photoshop

Now open the “Timeline” panel, it is located on the “Window” tab of the main menu (Window --> TimeLine) and click on the arrow next to the central button, select “Create Frame Animation” from the drop-down list, click on this button:

Selecting the frame animation mode.

In the layers panel go to the most bottom layer and turn off the visibility of all layers except the bottom one. The first frame of the animation is automatically created in the timeline, showing the bottom layer of the Layers panel. Click on the frame display time to change it to 0.04 seconds, as shown in the figure. Our two usable panels and document should currently look like this:

View of the document, layers panel and animation panel. The first frame of the animation has been created.

Click on the button to create a new animation frame (1), then turn on the visibility of the second layer from the bottom (2), but not vice versa!!! :

Creating the second animation frame.

In the same way, create the remaining animation frames, according to the number of layers in the layers panel.

At the bottom left of the timeline, switch the playback mode to “Continuously”, then click the “Start animation playback” button. If you did everything correctly, the animation should start:

Pre-animation of noise. For clarity, I made the frame display time in this figure 0.09 seconds, not 0.04.

Actually, the animation is ready. Now you need to adjust the tone of the noise to your liking. We will do this using adjustment layers.

Select all the layers in the layers panel (Ctrl+Alt+A) and group them (Ctrl+G).

Attention! Any additions of adjustment layers, as well as changes from the settings, can only be made when first frame on the timeline!

Add a Solid Color adjustment layer to the group, set the color to pure white, and change the blending mode to Difference. Thus, we inverted the black and white pixels, as a result the noise became darker in the overall picture. Pay attention to the timeline, all the animation frames have changed:

Invert animation colors using an adjustment layer.

Darken the animation using an adjustment layer.

With this we have completely changed the pure white pixels, making them a medium gray color.

All that remains is to save the animation. You can press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S and save it as a GIF animation (saving as a GIF is shown in more detail in the video tutorial), or you can create an MP4 video by importing the video.

Do you like the grungy look of static on old VHS tapes? There are many ways to recreate these effects on images, and you can even recreate animation from a static image using the Animated VHS Creation Kit tool.

In this tutorial I'll show you how to recreate the VHS noise effect on your images using only standard tools Photoshop programs.

Translator's note: 1. VHS - analog video recording format, this format used when recording videotapes 2.AnimatedVHSCreationKit - a tool that recreates the effectVHS on the original image and can also recreate the animation effectVHS.

Final result:

1. Create a New Document

Step 1

Create a new working document (Ctrl+N) with the following dimensions: 1500 x 1000 px; resolution 300 dpi.

Step 2

Note: you can download the image from the link at the beginning of the lesson or use any source image of your choice.

Step 3

Apply scaling to the image to the size of the working document, and then press the ‘Enter’ key.

Step 4

Press the 'T' key to add text to the top right corner of the image.

Step 5

Polygon(Polygon Tool), in the control panel of this tool, set the number of sides: 3 to draw a triangle shape. Place the triangle shape as shown in the screenshot below:

Step 6

Hold down the 'Shift' key, select all layers in the layers palette, and then right-click on the selected layers and select the option from the menu that appears Merge Layers(Merge Layers).

Step 7

Now, right-click on the merged layer and select the option from the menu that appears Convert to Smart Object(Convert to Smart Object).

Step 8

Create four duplicate layers by right-clicking on the layer with the smart object and selecting the option from the menu that appears Duplicate Layer(Duplicate).

2. Create Effects

Step 1

Turn off the visibility of all layers except the first two. Next, double-click on the second layer and in the window that appears, uncheck the boxes Green(Green) and Blue(Blue) channels.

Translator's note: creating 4 duplicate layers, then the author turned off the visibility of the top three layers.

Step 2

Press the 'V' key while holding the 'Shift' key and move the second layer 30 px to the right.

Step 3

Turn on the visibility of the third layer, in the same way as in the previous step, turn off the channels Red(Red) and Green(Green). Next, hold down the 'Shift' key and move this layer 20 px to the left.

Step 4

Turn on the visibility of the fourth layer, and then go Layer - New Adjustment Layer - Hue/Saturation(Layer > New Adjustments Layer > Hue/Saturation).

Step 5

Double-click the adjustment layer to change the value Saturation(Saturation) up to +100.

As you can see, the saturation effect has been applied to the entire image, but we only need to apply saturation to some areas of the image.

Step 6

Hue/Saturation Create Clipping Mask(Create Clipping Mask), this way the adjustment layer's adjustment will only apply to the bottom layer.

Step 7

Now add a layer mask to the fourth layer.

Step 8

Hold down the Alt key and click on the layer mask thumbnail to open it. Fill the mask with black.

Step 9

Press the 'M' key and then create rectangular selections where you would like the effect to be applied. Fill the created rectangles with white.

Thus, we applied the saturation effect only to certain areas of the image:

Step 10

Add a layer mask to the fifth layer, fill the mask with black. Next, create a large white rectangle just above the center of the image.

Step 11

Hold down the 'Shift' key and move this layer 600 px down.

Translator's note: first deselect the active selection (Ctrl+D), and then don’t forget to go from the mask to the layer by clicking on the layer thumbnail. Move the image strip all the way down, as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 12

Let's go Filter - Blur - Motion Blur(Filter > Blur > Motion Blur). Set the following settings: Corner(Angle): 15°; Bias(Distance): 15.

Step 13

Let's add a little distortion to the image. Let's go Filter - Distort - Twist(Filter > Distortion > Twirl). Set the following settings: Corner(Angle): 50°.

Step 14

Right click on the adjustment layer Hue/Saturation(Hue/Saturation) and in the window that appears, select the option Duplicate Layer(Duplicate). Next, move the duplicate adjustment layer to the top, placing it on top of the fifth layer, and then convert the duplicate adjustment layer into a clipping mask.

The result after all the manipulations should be as in the screenshot below:

3. Create a VHS Texture

Step 1

Create a new layer (Shift+Control+N) and fill it with white.

Step 2

Next, let's go Filter - Filter Gallery - Sketch(Filter > Filter Gallery > Sketch). Select sketch type Halftonepattern(Halftone Pattern). Set the following settings: Size(Size): 2; Contrast(Contrast): 2.

Step 3

Blend options Overlap(Overlay); Opacity(Opacity): 25%. Disable channels Red(Red) and Blue(Blue).

Translator's note: the author created a texture from small thin lines.

Step 4

Duplicate the texture. Using Free Transform (Ctrl+T), hold down the 'Shift' key, rotate the duplicate texture layer by 90°, and also apply scaling to the size of the working document.

Translator's note: Thus, the author created a texture from small cells.

Step 5

Double click on the layer to apply the following settings in the window Blend options(Blending Mode): blending mode Normal(Normal); Opacity(Opacity): 15%. Disable channels Green(Green) and Blue(Blue).

Translator's note: perform actions on the duplicate texture layer.

Step 19

Hold down the 'Shift' key and move this new layer 60 px to the right.

In this tutorial we will create a VHS video tape effect in Adobe Photoshop. We will work with filters, layer styles, adjustment layers. The result will be an interesting retro effect. At the same time, we use non-destructive correction methods. To do this, from the very beginning we convert the image we will be working on into a smart object. This means that after completing the tutorial, you can replace this image with any other one, and not create the entire effect again.

Translation – Duty room

Any image can be changed beyond recognition if you use the capabilities of Adobe Photoshop. This program allows you to create incredible effects, blurring the lines between reality and illusion. Any photo taken hastily can turn into a real masterpiece if a creative person has a hand in it using the capabilities of Photoshop. In order for everyone to be able to improve their own photographs, you should first understand how to make effects in Photoshop.

Photoshop has a huge number of effects and possibilities for using them

To personal page in social network has become as popular as possible, so that your personal blog is accompanied by high traffic, you should take care to display amazing photographs that will attract the attention of every site visitor. This will only be possible for those who are focused on working with the graphics program Photoshop, who improve their own skills and are interested in its new functions.

You should start your journey of mastering Photoshop small – with its basics – with how to add effects in Photoshop. Only after these skills have been brought to automaticity can the user proceed to the study and practical use of complex effects.

Simple effects

Of course, in order to start exploring all the capabilities of the Adobe Photoshop graphic editor, you should first install it on computer equipment. Experienced users recommend giving preference full version programs, since the reduced format may not have built-in filters, as a result, the chances of getting an original photo after performing simple manipulations are minimized.

Interested in how to apply an effect in Photoshop, many people want to receive information on how to do this with maximum ease? Some users still want to initially study the simplest effects, and only then begin to study complex ones.

It is sometimes quite difficult to determine which category (simple or complex) an effect belongs to. Anyone who has perfect skills in working with a graphics program can call each effect uncomplicated, but those who are just starting to master the skills will constantly see difficulties along the way.

Despite this, experienced users Still, they single out the filter with which it is best to start mastering Photoshop. Using the Nick Collection filter (Color Efecs Pro 4) you can learn how to change the style, contrast, brightness of an image, and also make all sorts of creative effects.

To add the desired effect, the user must open the image in the program that needs adjustment. Next, select the “Filter” item on the toolbar, and then go to the “Filter Gallery”. It offers a sufficient number of interesting options. The user must view them, theoretically “trying them on” to the image.

There are several filters that come with a large number additional effects. Such popular filters include: imitation, distortion, texture, strokes, sketch and others.

Having applied a certain filter, you should not immediately abandon it if the result is not impressive at first glance. It doesn’t hurt to work on the depth of shadows, image size, texture. Every action performed on an image can radically transform it.

Creating complex effects

After mastering the initial steps, you want to quickly learn how to make more complex transformations so that they look like the creations of real masters who skillfully work in Photoshop.

How to create a 3D image

If you really want to impress your friends with your Photoshop skills, then it’s useful to figure out how to make a 3D effect in Photoshop.

In order to create such an original image, you first need to stock up on the base. The user must select an object that is completely immobilized. This object must be photographed twice, but with a slight shift, within two centimeters.

Once the basis for creating a 3D photo is prepared, the user can begin practical actions. First, you should download both received photos and place them side by side, conventionally calling the first photo left, and the second right.

The right image should be copied, then open the left image and paste the copied right image. You will get two layers, in which it is important not to get confused - layer 1 is considered the right image, and Background is the left one.

By double-clicking on the first layer, you should call up the Layer Style Box, then go to Advanced Blending, then immediately find and go to Channels. There is already a check mark in a small window that should be unchecked. This will remove all red tints from the right image, causing stereo effects to appear in the photo.

The next step involves opening Background, renaming it Layer 0, and then selecting the Move Tool. Approximately in the center of the photo, you should select a conditional focus point, relative to which you should slightly move the right photo. The excess edges of the 3D image are cropped. The edited 3D photo is saved, after which 3D glasses are put on and the result of the work is visually assessed.

Once you have done these adjustments once, making 3D images in the future will be completely easy.

Creating a VHS effect

Are some users actively interested in how to make a VHS effect in Photoshop?

It is not difficult to understand this issue if you carefully study the recommendations of experienced users. First you should write something, choosing a font that suits the retro style. Next, this text must be duplicated three times.

Then, to add the VHS, you need to work on each of the three takes you created. Having opened the first take, they call up the “Levels” menu, in which they set the zero value on the red and green channels, so the image will turn blue.

In the second take, the blue and red channels are removed, and in the third, the blue and green channels are removed.

All three multi-colored layers are placed at a slight offset relative to each other, after which a blur filter is applied. A blend mode is applied to each layer, setting the image to 15% opacity and adding a fill.

The VHS effect will be achieved if the user also applies the Noise filter, setting the figure to 16%, unchecking the Monochrome box, and also setting the Outer Glow option.

The user must then create a noise line using the appropriate Rectangular Marquee tool. Already at this stage you can get the desired VHS effect. However, experienced users can further continue the process of creative photo modification, greatly enhancing the VHS effect.

So, graphics program Adobe Photoshop allows you to create incredibly magical effects with any image. If you have an irresistible desire to learn how to create VHS and 3D effects, then no one can prevent you from achieving your goals.
