The Windows 7 calculator allows you to:

carry out arithmetic and static calculations,

calculate the values of power, exponential, logarithmic, trigonometric functions,

Example 1 – Counting the number of days between two dates

Open the Windows 7 calculator and in the View menu select the “Date Calculation” option (number 1 in Fig. 2).

Select the option “Calculate the interval between dates” (number 1 in Fig. 3).

Select the starting date by clicking on the small triangle to open the calendar (number 2 in Fig. 3).

Similarly, we set the end date (number 3 in Fig. 3).

Click on the “Calculate” button (number 4 in Fig. 3).

After this, numbers will automatically appear showing the difference between the dates (number 5 in Fig. 3)

The example in the figure is not entirely successful, because the number of days from September 30 to October 11 can be counted “in your head”, without a calculator, but you can clearly see that the calculator “does not lie” :)

Similarly, you can add days to a given date, or subtract days from a given date. To do this, click on the small triangle indicated by number 1 in Fig. 3. And there, instead of “Calculating the interval between two dates,” we select another option – “Add or subtract days before the specified date.”

Example 2 – Calculation of “Fuel Consumption”

Open the calculator. In the “View” menu, click on the “Sheets” option (number 1 in Fig. 4). Then select the desired sheet, for example, “Fuel Economy” (number 2 in Fig. 4).

We enter the distance, for example, 350 (in kilometers), as well as fuel consumption per 100 km, for example, 8 l/100km. We click on the “Calculate” button, the result of fuel consumption immediately appears - 28.

Calculator in engineering mode

In Fig. 4 in the View menu, select “Engineering”. In this mode, the priority of operations is taken into account, that is, multiplication or division will be performed first, and then addition and subtraction.

The calculation accuracy in the mode is 32 significant digits.

Calculator in Programmer mode

In Fig. 4 in the View menu, select “Programmer”. This mode uses only integers. Decimal parts are discarded.

The calculator's accuracy reaches 64 bits depending on the selected word size.

Just like in engineering mode, the priority of operations is taken into account.

Each number that is entered is immediately displayed in Programmer mode. You can set the length of the number.

There are different formats for displaying the same number:

Bin (binary),
Oct (octal),
Dec (decimal),
Hex (hexadecimal).

You can quickly switch between these different number display formats, which is quite convenient.

Calculator in Statistics mode

Select the “Statistics” mode from the “View” menu (Fig. 4).

Enter the first number and click the “Add” button (the “Add” button in Fig. 5). So we enter several numbers.

Then click on the button for statistical calculation, for example, “Sum of Values”, which is highlighted yellow in Fig.5.

Press the Win key or click the Start button to open the main menu of the operating system. Enter the name of the program file (calc) into its window in the main menu, and you will see a link to this file (calc.exe) in the only line of the search result. To run the program, press Enter.
