Root permissions. Getting root rights on Android through a computer. Obtaining rights using a computer device

There are many so-called “one-click” programs for obtaining ROOT rights to Android. These exploits are easy to use: just install the utility on your PC or the application on your smartphone, if necessary, make a couple of clicks and you're done! But their main problem is that they cannot root 100% of devices. In this instruction we will talk about a method that is suitable for all smartphones and tablets on which you can install custom recovery: CWM, TWRP.

What are root rights and what are they for?

Although Android is the most customizable mobile OS, any device out of the box does not have access to the root directory and editing system files - they are mounted in read-only mode. Having root (Superuser account), writing to the system partition becomes available. The user can customize the system as much as possible: bypass Google Play restrictions, and much more.

During the rooting process, the SuperSU root rights administrator application is installed on a smartphone or tablet, a binary file SU, which is written along the path /system/xbin/ and a set of console utilities BusyBox.

Quite a lot of specialized applications today require the phone to have so-called superuser rights or simply root rights, so people start looking on the Internet for information on how to get root rights on Android. And to do this, there are a large number of different ways, each of which differs from the other in complexity, effectiveness and, ultimately, popularity.

Some of them are free, while others will have to be paid for. Some can be done without a computer, while others can only be done via a PC. The problem is that some method can be very convenient, performed without a computer and good in all respects, but not suitable for your device. Therefore, below we will describe several ways to get root rights. It is likely that at least one of them will fit your device - phone or tablet.

Framaroot

One of the most popular programs for obtaining root rights for a computer. Its use is as simple as possible - everything, in fact, is done in one click. Now the developers have removed the download limit, so this should not be a problem. Framaroot allows you to root your device for free, but relies on voluntary donations.

You can download it on Google Play, like other applications that work without a PC. How to install root rights using Framaroot? After downloading and installation, the window shown in Figure 1 will appear. There you need to select “Install SuperSU” (“Install Superuser” in some versions of the program).

Next, you will need to select a character who will manage root rights (this is such a “trick” of the developers). It is best to take Boromir. Next, a message about successful installation will appear, which will mean that the device has received root rights. Finally, you need to reboot your device for the changes to take effect.

Baidu Root

Also a very simple program. Questions related to how to make the device have root rights with its help do not even arise, because when launched, there is one simple button at the top of the program window - “Get root”. Click on it, wait a while and everything is ready!

It is worth saying that this application is best downloaded as an .apk file. Practice shows that it will work better this way.

iRoot

iRoot also works without a computer. Therefore, there are no problems with how to install this program either. It works on almost all versions of Android, starting from 1.3. Today, this is almost the most effective program that allows you to install root rights on a tablet or phone.

And its use is also extremely simple - launch it, click the “Get” button, wait for the installation to finish and use it. That is, to assign superuser rights to a device, you need to click on one single button. But what do these same rights give!

You will be able to use a large number of specialized applications for restoring, deleting, redistributing data and performing other tasks that are inaccessible to the average user.

Root Tool

This program is a whole set of tools related to managing root rights. Among them is a tool for managing startup, creating backups and much more. There are also no difficulties in making a device a superuser using the Root Tool - there is a “Get ROOT” button. You need to click on it, wait and everything will be ready.

Most of the programs listed above have analogues for computers, that is, programs that need to be installed on a PC, then connect the phone and then work on obtaining root rights. But they work best in this form, as discussed above.

In addition, there are specialized and very effective programs that are installed on your computer and help give your Android phone or tablet root rights. They will be discussed further.

MTKdroidTools

Here everything is already done directly through the PC. To get started, the program needs to be downloaded, installed and launched. Initially it will look like shown in Figure 5. But when you connect a phone with Android OS, the “SuperUser”, “Build .prop”, “Backup” and other buttons will become available. Actually, we will need to click “SuperUser” and wait for the installation to finish. Using this program, you can remove unnecessary applications, create backups, prepare files for FlashTool and perform many other specialized functions.

Most likely, to work with MTKdroidTools and other similar programs, you will need to enable USB debugging. To do this, developer options must be available on your phone. How to make them available is described below.

  • Go to settings, click “About device” and “Software information”.

  • Find the field with the build number there and touch it 7 times.

  • Now a new item will appear in the main settings menu - “Developer Options”. We go into them and turn on the “USB Debugging” item.

In general, there is a lot of controversy regarding what such manipulations provide - someone writes that ordinary users should not perform such operations. But the fact remains: Without USB debugging enabled, most root applications will not work.

VRoot

The ease of use of VRoot is comparable to applications that only run on the phone. In order to give root rights, you need to launch the program, connect your phone via a USB cable and click the ROOT button in the lower right corner of the program window. After that, you just have to wait for the end of this process.

Kingo Android Root

Another very easy-to-use program - launch it, connect the device, press the “ROOT” button at the bottom and wait.

An overview of three more programs can be seen below.

Today, most of the market is occupied by devices that run on the Android operating system. Many manufacturers, including Samsung, LG, Lenovo, etc., are actively introducing this OS into their mobile phones, and that’s all because this operating system is open source and is ready for any changes. Any user can edit system files, install an application downloaded from the Internet, but in the format of a special installation file with the .apk extension. But in order to view and edit system files, you need to obtain Root rights, or, as they say simply, superuser rights.

What does SuperUser or root rights give?

Do you need to figure out what these root rights give? Basically, root rights allow you to dive deeper into the smartphone subsystem. They will allow you to access the entire operating system and customize almost anything on your Android device. With root access, you can bypass any restrictions that the manufacturer or operator may have applied. If you are a confident Windows user, then you know that in order to change something in system files, you need to log in as an administrator. In this OS, work proceeds in a similar way: when you purchase a smartphone, you become a guest, and after receiving root rights, you become the administrator of the device, which will allow you to make changes to the firmware itself or replace it with a custom one.

Advantages and disadvantages of Root rights on Android

These root rights will be indispensable for developers of programs and games of any version of Android. But the issue of obtaining root rights is of more concern to ordinary users. The main advantages of Root rights are:

  • New opportunities are opening up in changing the appearance of the OS;
  • Access to system directories and files;
  • Installation of paid pro-version programs;
  • Ability to hack applications;
  • Optimizing RAM by turning off system applications;
  • Clearing the internal memory of the device by removing system software from Google and the manufacturer itself;
  • Advanced settings for optimizing smartphone performance;

Despite the large number of positive points, there are still disadvantages that are worth paying attention to:

  1. Automatic loss of warranty;
  2. Firmware failures are possible due to incorrect work with internal directories;
  3. Access to software updates via the Internet is closed;

Getting root rights on Android

After considering the pros and cons, users never cease to wonder how to install root rights. First of all, determine the Android version of your device, because the possibility of obtaining SuperSU on version 7.0 differs from version 5.1. In general, there are two ways to install root rights:

  • Via a computer or laptop;
  • Installing special applications on the device;

Check if your mobile device has Android 6.0 and higher, you need to install a special Recovery from the manufacturer on the phone, although with the release of new versions of the KingRoot and SuperSU smartphone programs, this may not be necessary if you obtain root rights without a computer. In order not to waste a lot of time on manual installation, you need to download a modified recovery yourself, which will quickly give you superuser rights. There are quite a lot of instructions on the Internet that will help you figure out how to find and install Recovery.

How to get superuser rights from a computer

The easiest way to install root rights on a mobile phone is using a PC or laptop. This does not require special knowledge, the main thing is to follow the instructions. So, you need:

  1. Smartphone with Android version 4.4.2-6.0;
  2. Computer or laptop running Windows OS;
  3. USB cable;
  4. KingRoot application for PC;

If all of the above is available, then you can begin to establish SuperSU rights. Often, installation takes no more than ten minutes. First, you need to enable USB debugging mode in your smartphone settings. But many manufacturers hide this section and you need to activate it using this method:

  1. Open settings and go to the “About phone” tab;
  2. Click on the line with the phone’s build number a couple of times, after which a message should appear that you have become a developer;
  3. Go to the “For Developers” section, find the “USB Debugging” item and check the box next to it;
  1. Connect the turned on phone to the PC using a USB cable;
  2. Launch the KingRoot program on your PC;
  3. In the program interface, find the blue button, where, as a rule, it says “Root” and click on it;
  4. Wait for this process to complete (it lasts at least 10 minutes; in the meantime, the SuperUser application from KingRoot will be installed on your phone)
  5. Reboot your mobile device;

Applications for installing root rights using a computer

The most common and convenient program for installing administrator rights is KingRoot. Usually, it is developed only in Chinese, but its interface is clear. There is a similar alternative to this program - Kingo Root. It is completely free, you can download it in English and is constantly updated, but, unfortunately, it does not work with all phone models.

Another interesting application for PC is OneClickRoot. This program will allow you to get root rights in one click, and can also work with only released versions of the OS.

If you do not look at the interface, but at the guaranteed quality, do not forget about the Vroot program for Windows. This program is constantly under development, so few people pay attention to the old design anymore, because the main emphasis is on compatibility with all devices. For individual devices from the manufacturer Samsung, the CF Auto Root program is available, which has more than a hundred smartphone models in its database and will accurately select superuser rights for each model.

Getting root rights on Android without a computer

It is not always possible to install root rights via a PC, so the developers used another trick. More than a dozen programs have already been created to install root rights inside the Android OS. For versions from 4.4 to 6.0.1, the Kingroot program is best suited, but for a smartphone and in .apk format. To install this application you need to have permission to install various software from unknown sources, you can do this like this:

  1. Go to settings;
  2. Find the item “Security”;
  3. Check the box “Unknown sources”;
  4. Reboot your phone;

To obtain SuperSU rights through the KingRoot program, take the following steps:

  1. Download the file and run it on your mobile device;
  2. Turn on the Internet (When rooting, it is advisable to use Wi-Fi);
  3. Click the big blue button in the application;
  4. We wait for the end of the procedure and reboot the device;

We warn you that it is not possible to install root rights right away, so you should repeat the steps several times.

Obtaining root rights through Android applications

In addition to the well-known KingRoot, you can use other applications that work similarly. Although the Kingo Root application is available on smartphones, manufacturers work more with the program on PCs. The RomMaster Su application is a mobile program from the PC manufacturers of the Vroot program, which helps to root those devices that another application does not accept. Applications such as 360 Root and Baidu Root have the same effect. The latter is especially good for obtaining administrator rights on Android phones with version 4.4.

How to find out if your smartphone has root rights

Are you sure that you did the right thing, but still don’t know whether you received root rights or not? This can be checked. Download the latest version of the SuperSU application from the Internet. Download and open it. The display should show whether you have root access or not. By the way, in the same program you can easily give or remove administration privileges to individual applications.

Removing root rights from a phone

Have you figured out how to obtain root rights, but don’t know how to remove them? It's simple, just open the SuperSU application on your smartphone, go to settings and select the “unroot” option, scrolling through the list to the very end. This will be the easiest removal option.

If your phone is running Android 4.4.2 or lower, you can disable superuser rights by deleting files from the system directory. To do this, it is most convenient to use an explorer application, for example, ES File Explorer. Just before work, grant root privileges to the application:

  1. Find your device's main drive in the "/" partition;
  2. Go to the bin directory, then long-press the busybox and su folders, then delete them;
  3. Now go to the xbin directory and also delete the busybox and su folders;
  4. Remove the supeuser.apk application from the system directory;
  5. Reboot your device.

Getting a superuser without a PC

This method is more convenient because it takes less time and if one does not suit you, then you will spend less time trying another.

The search for programs for obtaining root without using a connection to a computer is carried out in the Google Market.

You quickly download the program and immediately proceed to rooting; there are many programs for this.

The task is made easier by the absence of preliminary settings.

Kingroot

The first application is almost universal, suitable for most devices.

There are some difficulties after installation, since the program tries to stay on the device forever, and we don’t need this, but that will come later.

So, the installation process:

2 Open the application, press the try to reboot button.

That's all, if you successfully obtain rights, a screen will appear asking you to clean your phone of excess debris.

Everything happens quickly and simply, and does not require any additional settings.

Now let's move on to the second part, the application will try to save in the device, to avoid this, we will replace it with SuperSu.

This is done like this:

1 Download and install the Super-Sume application.

2 Let's start the first stage.

3 We start the second one, at this stage the application will freeze, having completed a certain percentage of the operation.

4 Close the application and reboot the device.

5 Go to Kingroot again and get root rights again as described earlier

6 Once again we launch Super-Sume, it will ask you to carry out the second stage, we start it, now everything goes well, and we see the result.

7 You can now remove Super-Sume from your device.

So we rid the phone of an unnecessary application and gained root access.

Download

Framaroot

Plus the application has a Russian-language interface. Localization for people who speak Russian makes it easier to navigate the application.

The downside is that it is not available on Google Play, so you will have to search for it on the Internet.

Let's take a step-by-step look at obtaining root rights:

1 You need to download framaroot itself.

3 Now choose any of the proposed characters.

4 After successful installation, a smiley face will appear on the screen.

5 Restart your smartphone.

Perhaps the happy emoticon will not appear, which means that this method is not suitable for your device.

Download

Baidu root

The main advantage of this application is the number of devices that it supports, which is as many as 6,000 devices.

The program has drawbacks, for example, almost the entire interface is in Chinese, but the main button for obtaining root access is in Russian.

Now you need to do the following:

Companies that assemble portable devices running the Android system strive by all means to achieve high reliability of their solutions. Of course, there are exceptions in the form of Chinese models sold according to, but in general this is exactly the case.

One of the conditions for stable and long-term operation is to block any attempts to make changes to the structure of system files by the user. At the same time, such a limitation does not allow the full potential of a mobile device to be fully revealed, so a way to bypass it has long been found.

Operating principle

Before we look at Android via a computer, it makes sense to recall the structure of the system. Inside any gadget there is a drive based on solid-state memory cells in which Linux files are stored. It is this system that underlies Android. In fact, this is the same Windows folder, if we draw an analogy with the solution from Microsoft.

In normal operation, the user can only view what is recorded on this drive, and that is at best. And there is no talk of making any changes to the system partition - requests are blocked by settings. To get around this limitation, you need to install a special program that provides so-called

Abundance of solutions

There are a huge number of programs that provide root on Android. The owner of the gadget, through a simple selection, must choose among them the one that will work correctly. It is worth noting that some of these programs are installed directly on the device, while others are installed through a computer.

Each solution has its own characteristics. It is believed that installing root rights on Android via a computer is more universal, since this method works on any version of the system, and the probability of successful rooting is quite high.

KingRoot

One of the simplest and most effective ways to install root rights on Android via a computer is to use a solution from Chinese programmers. The King Root program exists in two versions: for a gadget and a computer. In the second case, you need to prepare a USB cable that allows you to connect the device to a system unit or laptop, and download the application (version 3.1) after completing the installation. To get root rights to Android via a computer using this application, you need to open the “For Developers” item in the gadget itself, follow the menu to the “About phone” section and quickly click on “Build number” several times in a row.

In the developer options, you should enable USB debugging by checking the appropriate box. After this, you need to launch the application on your computer and connect the gadget to the port with a cable. After the device is detected, you need to press the blue button in the application. In this case, a request will be displayed on the gadget’s display, which should be answered in the affirmative. In the program running on the computer, all you have to do is select Try it and wait for the result, watching the running percentages.

Obtaining root rights for Android via a computer in a couple of “clicks”

No less interesting is the method offered by SuperOneClick. To use it, you need to make sure that it is disabled and the cable is connected. Then install the application on your computer, launch it and click “Root”. Wait for the message about waiting for connection to appear on the screen, and enable debugging in the gadget. That's all. Sometimes, for correct detection, you may need to change the USB debugging mode several times in a row. It is possible to automatically reboot the mobile device during the rooting process.

Vroot

As stated earlier, despite the abundance of programs that allow you to obtain root access rights, not all of them are effective. So, among all the abundance, VRoot is especially popular. There are a lot of positive reviews about this application. True, it was not without some peculiarities. Among them are operability with versions of Android no lower than 4.4 (“Kit-Kat”), as well as installation of the KingUser block, which opens access to Root, and not the alternative SuperSU, so beloved by many. To get root rights to Android via a computer using VRoot, you need to install and run this application on your computer. Connect the gadget. Allow debugging. Wait until the device is detected in the program and press the ROOT button in the interface. If everything went well, the gadget will reboot and root rights will be obtained.

In the future, upon the initial launch of any program that requires the appropriate permission in Android to operate, the user will be presented with a dialog box asking whether to allow or deny actions with system files.

Kingo Root Android

The list of Chinese programs for root access in operating systems from Google, of course, is not limited to the KingRoot described above. No less interesting is an application with a similar name - KingoRoot. In many cases, it is this that allows you to successfully modify the operating system’s security mechanism. To use it to obtain root rights to Android via a computer, you must first allow the installation of programs obtained from unknown (unverified) sources in the gadget’s security settings. In addition, USB debugging mode should be enabled. The principle of operation is similar to alternative solutions - a search for the desired exploit (microcode that unlocks Android capabilities) is carried out on the developer’s website and further installation is carried out when it is found. Using KingoRoot will not cause any difficulties even for a beginner: after connecting the gadget to the computer, you should launch the application and press the ROOT button. All you have to do is wait for the mobile device to reboot and a message indicating the successful completion of the operation.

Peculiarities

So, getting root rights to Android via a computer is not difficult, although it requires the use of additional devices. At the same time, it often happens that where a regular APK application turns out to be powerless, they make it possible to successfully root a device. If you decide to use this method, it is important to understand that the computer itself must have access to the global Internet, since this is where exploits are downloaded. But some “mobile” applications, for example, Framaroot, work great “on their own”. This should be taken into account.

Denying root access

Sometimes you need to remove root rights on Android via a computer. This may be necessary in order to return the gadget to its original state, for example, before contacting a service center or selling it. A method that gives 100% results is to use the basic firmware obtained from the manufacturer or previously saved using MTKDroidTools and FlashTools (in the case of devices on Mediatek processors). Flashing restores all system partitions and information on them, resetting any Root. However, this is a rather drastic solution, so it is rarely resorted to, using the ability to remove root access rights using the application itself that granted them. For example, if the root was obtained through KingRoot, then the gadget’s application list will have a corresponding shortcut. By opening it, you can completely delete all changes by simply moving the switch to the appropriate position (disabled). A similar mechanism is used in almost all other solutions.
