The Nokia brand is returning to the smartphone and feature phone market. As a PR campaign, HMD Global, which today has the rights to the trademark, even released the new Nokia 3310, which turned out to be completely different from the iconic “brick”. What we have in our hands is simply a cheap Nokia 130 Dual SIM model - a typical representative of cheap dialers of the second decade of the 21st century: compact sizes, small keys, a nostalgic color display and even video playback.

First, you should take a look at the Nokia 130 Dual SIM. The video review will dispel all illusions.

Design

Nokia 130 Dual SIM is available in three color solutions: red, black and white. We got a black device. Thanks to the color, it looks quite strict.

We used non-staining matte plastic for the phone, which we personally like. The device makes a fairly pleasant impression, as pleasant as it can now make push-button telephone.

It fades a little when you take the Nokia 130 Dual SIM in your hands: cheap plastic, creaking panels. Still, this is not a neat brick of a smartphone, which even manufacturers of cheap models have already learned to make quite dense.

The front panel is made flat.

The back cover has smooth transition on the sidewalls, which abut the front at almost a right angle.

There is an embossed Nokia logo on the back of the phone.

Overall, for a cheap feature phone, the Nokia 130 Dual SIM looks... ordinary. Such a device does not evoke emotions. That's probably good.

Connectors and keyboard

There is a display on the front panel. It's quite small. Below it is a standard keyboard.

Nokia 130 Dual SIM has soft buttons. These usually fail when used for too long, but they are pleasant to the touch. Presses, however, are not always recorded as clearly as we would like.

The keyboard is standard: numeric buttons, end call, call, a rather pleasant 5-way joystick and two function buttons, one of which is assigned to call the player, and the second is something like a quick menu.

On the back cover there is a speakerphone and a flashlight LED.

At the top end we find a microUSB connector and an audio jack. Not a very convenient neighborhood.

The bottom end has a small slot. You can pry the lid off through it. It doesn't come off that easily.

There is nothing on the left or right side of the phone.

To install SIM cards, you will need to remove the battery. Card slot microSD memory, although it is not located under the battery, however, only a virtuoso can install the card without removing it.

The cover is easier to put into place than it was to remove. Judging by the sound, there are not many latches and they are not very reliable. If the phone will fall, then, as befits a classic, it will fly apart: the cover in one direction, the device in another, the battery in a third. Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery is more than modest. A simple cardboard box with no frills.

Inside we find a phone, charger and USB cable. There are also instructions and warranty cards.

The most remarkable thing is the Microsoft inscription on the charger. Yes, this is a phone from the times when the brand was owned by Gates' company.

Nokia 130 screen

We called the Nokia 130 display nostalgically colorful for a reason. This is exactly what the first color displays looked like 20 years ago. The screen diagonal is only 1.8 inches, its resolution is 128x160 pixels. They don’t talk about physical resolution in such cases, but we still note that it is 114 ppi. Simply put, every pixel is clearly visible on this screen.

The LCD screen supports 65 thousand colors, the specifications say. However, these are not at all the colors that those who have smartphones are used to. These are special colors that change even when the display is tilted slightly. First they become lighter or darker, then they are completely inverted and, finally, the image practically disappears. 10 years ago they were happy about this. Today they simply don’t pay attention, since it’s not customary to look at a 1.8-inch display, unless, of course, it’s a smartwatch.

Nokia 130 specifications

You can't expect outstanding performance from the Nokia 130 Dual SIM.

The phone is worth noting the presence of Bluetooth 3.0. Although this is not the most economical version of the standard, it does allow you to connect a wireless headset, which the driver can appreciate.

The phone has a slot for memory cards. You can load music or video onto it, but rather only music. Shouldn't you watch video on such a display?

It is also worth noting the presence of an FM tuner. The device will help you pass the time while traveling while listening to music.

The battery capacity is quite large for such devices. 1020 mAh should be enough for 13 hours of talking or 46 hours of listening to music.

The phone has the usual menu for push-button models.

It has two screens. One has nine icons, the other has only a shortcut to additional functions. Let's go through them all.

Call log. It displays received and not received calls, and has a minute and message counter.

Contacts. The phone allows you to make 500 entries. Contacts are the simplest: name + phone number. If you try to delete all contacts at once, you will be asked for a security code.

Music player. The player is controlled with a joystick. No sound settings. You can only change the playback order. You can put your favorite melody directly from the player as a ringtone or add it to your favorites list.

Video player. Plays videos. Works only with microSD card.

Messages. Standard application for such phones. There are accepted, sent, and drafts. The message counter is turned on separately for each SIM card.

FM receiver. The FM receiver only works when headphones are connected. Can remember stations.

Watch. Here you can set an alarm or other signal. Multiple slots available.

Games. The phone owner has at his disposal the famous Snake, just as simple, only on a color display.

Additional features. Here are utility applications: notes, calculator, calendar and flashlight. The flashlight is quite bright.

In the phone settings you can set other wallpapers for the display, also set the clock, phone calls, including blocking certain numbers, turning on Bluetooth, setting up signals.

Conclusion

Quite a convenient phone without any complaints. A simple “dialer” for ridiculous money. The assets include compact dimensions, a capacious battery, good connection, availability of Bluetooth and microSD. The downside is a mediocre display, a primitive phone book... and, perhaps, that’s all.

Appearance also does not cause negative emotions. The phone is well made, although it is clear that it feels downright cheap.

Among the inconveniences, we can note that the central position of the joystick is not always clearly activated.

Nokia 130 price

You can buy Nokia 130 Dual SIM for 1800-1900 rubles. You can find it cheaper, however, this price guarantees you will receive the device, and not a long showdown with the courier or with the seller where you can pick up the phone.

There are enough analogues on the market. For example, Philips E103. The phone has similar characteristics: two SIM cards, display, 1.77 inches resolution 128x160, support microSD cards, but no Bluetooth. It costs about 200 rubles cheaper.

Alcatel One Touch 1016D can be bought even cheaper. It will cost 900-1000 rubles, but not only does it not have Bluetooth, but also support for microSD cards, and the battery capacity is only 400 mAh.

In a word, taking into account the prices and functionality of devices in this segment, a decisive role in the choice should be played by appearance and commitment to a particular brand.

Cons:

• mediocre screen;
• small phone book.

A mass model with good equipment, including a 4-core Snapdragon processor 400, 1 GB of RAM, support for two active SIM cards and a 2220 mAh battery. The highlight of the smartphone is its bright design and wide-angle 5 MP front camera for selfies. Is this enough to win consumer love for a device with a price tag of $250? We’ll discuss it later in the review.

Equipment

Lumia 730 Dual SIM comes in a thick cardboard box, designed similarly to other mobile products of the brand. The smartphone itself is placed inside it, charger with micro-USB connector, instructions and warranty card. Unfortunately, the headset and, more surprisingly, the USB cable were not included in the package.

Design and functional elements

At the first glance at the device being tested, it becomes obvious that while it is in your hands you cannot escape the prying eyes of those around you. The point here is in the design of the case. Its main feature is its “nuclear” coloring. By the way, in addition to the “screaming” orange one, there is a version in bright green. However, the classic ones are also available: white and black.

The case also attracts attention with its design. The smartphone is made from a single piece of glossy and fairly durable polycarbonate, which encloses its hardware, plus a display unit is attached on top. The material, to be honest, is quite controversial. Yes, due to the gloss, the device looks very impressive, at the same time, it slides in the hand and easily picks up small scratches. However, on bright plastic the latter will still be barely noticeable.

Ease of control is another plus in favor of the Lumia 730 Dual SIM. Due to its small dimensions - 134.7x68.5x8.7 mm, and a screen diagonal of 4.7 inches, the smartphone fits securely in the palm of your hand, and most importantly, can be manipulated with one hand.

Functional elements

The Lumia 730 Dual SIM case is collapsible. Perhaps this is why, with strong compression, a slight creak of plastic is heard, and the play, although minimal, is felt.

Under the cover of the device there are slots for two micro SIM cards and a memory card, as well as a removable battery.

On the right side of the gadget, even by touch you can find the power button and a paired volume key. There is a port on the bottom for connecting a microUSB cable, and a 3.5 mm audio output for a headset on the top.

The front panel of the smartphone is divided by a 4.7-inch screen with a narrow strip of on-screen touch buttons, a 5MP camera peephole, light/proximity sensors and a speaker slot.

The rear panel is equipped with a multimedia speaker, a noise-canceling microphone, an LED flash, a 6.7 MP camera peephole, an inscription “hint” at the presence of Carl Zeiss optics and the logo of the manufacturer.

Display

The display of the Lumia 730 deserves special attention. It is made using organic LED technology, has a diagonal of 4.7 inches and a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The pixel density per inch is 316. With this indicator, pixelation is invisible.

The screen is bright and contrasty, provides clear images, including small fonts, as well as good readability of information in bright sunlight and from any angle. Not the least of which is due to ClearBlack technology.

At manual control Brightness is traditionally available in three fixed levels: low, medium and high. However, it is also provided automatic mode. In addition, the user has several display display modes at his disposal - using the slider, you can play with brightness and saturation to make the colors more muted or exaggerated.

Glove control has also been implemented additional function allowing you to work in bright light conditions.

Among other features of the display, it is important to note the presence of an excellent oleophobic coating and protective glass Gorilla Glass 3, which should provide good protection screen from external mechanical influences. The touch layer recognizes up to 10 simultaneous touches.

Memory

The built-in storage capacity of the Lumia 730 Dual SIM is 8 GB. Of these, only about 7 GB are available to the user. However, this should not be a hindrance, since the gadget supports microSD cards up to 128 GB, plus another 15 GB is offered cloud storage OneDrive.

Equipment and performance

Inside the bright body of the tested model there is a 4-core Snapdragon 400 series processor from Qualcomm with clock frequency 1.2 GHz and Adreno 305 graphics. Volume RAM the device is 1 GB.

The smartphone plays Full HD video without any problems and can handle most applications. Asphalt 8 racing games downloaded from the Windows store ran without lags.

Wireless modules and interfaces

The Lumia 730 has almost a flagship set of wireless communications: Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS with A-GPS, A-GLONASS, BeiDou. There is even an NFC chip and Miracast technology - a WiFi-Direct-based protocol that allows you to stream video from your smartphone to compatible TVs.

In addition, the device received support for two SIM cards operating in 2nd and 3rd generation networks. There is only one radio module, but due to special modifications to the WP 8.1 OS and X-divert technology, SIM cards work simultaneously even when calling one of them.

Battery

The smartphone has a 2220 mAh battery, without removing which it is impossible to get a memory card and one of the SIM cards.

Time declared by the manufacturer battery life- 9 hours of video playback, 10.5 hours of web surfing, 60 hours of listening to audio, or 22 hours of talking on 2G networks, which, however, is confirmed in practice, provided the panel brightness is reduced to a minimum.

In a mode that includes only periodic calls, reading mail and news on the Internet, the smartphone can work without recharging for 2-2.5 days. An energy saving mode is provided.

Speakers

The speaker is high quality and loud. The only complaint about it is that the slot is not covered by anything and is noticeably recessed relative to the plane of the screen - a kind of dust collector.

Multimedia speaker provides good quality sound. Without wheezing, it holds even the maximum volume level.

You can also use the graphic equalizer to adjust frequency ranges and add surround sound to your headphones by activating Virtual Surround mode.

Cameras

Lumia 730 received a main photo module with a 6.7 MP sensor on a 1/3.4-inch BSI matrix. The camera is complemented by Carl Zeiss optics, an autofocus system, 4x digital zoom and LED flash. The effective focal length is 26mm, the minimum focusing range is 10cm, and the maximum aperture is f/1.9.

Even despite the seemingly small size of the camera sensor, coupled with the rich settings of the Camera application, including the ability to adjust ISO, white balance and shutter speed, activate the timer, the “Bracketing” function and much more, the Lumia 730 allows you to take good photos with good detail, especially with sufficient lighting.

To work with photos and videos, the smartphone also includes Camera, Lumia Stories, Lumia Live Photos and Lumia Photo Studio applications.

By the way, in the case of the Lumia 730 Dual-SIM, it was the 5MP wide-angle front camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a focal length of 24 mm that attracted my attention the most. It, like the main one, is capable of recording video in maximum resolution Full HD.

And self-portraits made with her help, as they say, are a sin not to post on social networks. To create the latter, by the way, there is a special Lumia app Selfie. It analyzes the face in the photo and offers a lot of really interesting effects.

Competitors

If we consider the Lumia 730 Dual SIM as a dual-SIM “selfie”, then it can compete with such Android smartphones as the Lenovo Sisley S90, Sony Xperia C3 Dual, Samsung G530H Galaxy Grand Prime And HTC Desire 620.

But among dual-SIM games based on the OS Windows Phone 8.1 for the tested model there was only one competitor - a 5-inch Prestigio MultiPhone 8500 DUO. However, it is also inferior to the Nokia handset in terms of hardware, as it is equipped with a much less productive Qualcomm Snapdragon 200.

Conclusions

Well, if you prefer WP backgrounds that could make you stand out from the crowd, then the Lumia 730 Dual SIM should not be ignored. Moreover, its bright appearance is not all of its advantages over its competitors. Not the least role in the overall positive perception of the smartphone is played by fast and economical hardware, excellent battery life, a bright OLED screen, and a front camera capable of high-quality selfies.

There are some drawbacks, including a still limited selection of applications in the Windows Store and not the best build, but, in fact, none of them can be called critical for the $240 price tag.
