How to install WhatsApp on a computer - PC version and using WhatsApp Web online (via a web browser). Web version of WhatsApp Download WhatsApp extension for Yandex browser

It is constantly developing, new functions are constantly being added to it, and old ones are being refined. Not long ago a web version was released for it. This is a special page on the official website of the application, by going to which and performing certain actions, the user can communicate from his computer or any other device.

Setting up and using WhatsApp Web

How to use WhatsApp Web? Setting up the function occurs in two stages: opening a special page in the browser, then connecting the device.

The next step is the same for everyone: point the camera at the QR code on the monitor and wait for it to be read. Now the Internet version of the messenger is ready to work. From here you can send messages, media files and view statuses. In this case, the call function is not available, there are only voice messages.

Reconnecting to Web WhatsApp is easier. Launch the app on your iPhone or Android, and then open the page in your browser. Synchronization will happen automatically. The web version will crash with an error if the Internet is disconnected on the smartphone or some kind of glitch occurs.

Attention: as mentioned earlier, WhatsApp Web directly synchronizes with your mobile device. At the same time, its traffic is continuously consumed, which, in the case of non-unlimited mobile internet, withdraws money from the account. Therefore, it is recommended that when using the web version, switch to connecting to home Wi-Fi, if such a possibility exists.

Disable synchronization

Not everyone may like the fact that WhatsApp on the computer is constantly connected to the client on the smartphone. This is especially undesirable for people who share a PC or laptop with someone else. In this case, you need to disable automatic activation.

Hello, dear readers of the blog site. At one time, I wrote where I briefly described the functionality of these applications for mobile phones and held a vote on which program turned out better. However, it is not always convenient to use these applications from a mobile phone and I would like to be able to use, for example, WhatsApp on a computer(this makes typing much faster, and in general, since you are sitting at a PC, there is no need to hold a cell phone in your hands - I already wrote about this in the article).

In general, the online version of the program called WhatsApp Web available on the official website starting in the summer of 2016. This greatly simplifies the use of this software on a computer. Thus, today there are two main options for using WhatsApp on a PC - online, that is, through a browser (web version) or by installing a special WhatsAppSetup application from the official website on your computer. Let's take a quick look at them...

What you need to consider before installing WhatsApp Web on your computer

To avoid problems during installation, keep in mind a few basic important nuances:

Install WhatsApp on your computer

As I mentioned, it is especially important so that WhatsApp is installed on your mobile phone. To do this, simply go to the application manager on your mobile phone and type “WhatsApp” into the search bar.

Install the found application (note that at least a billion users have already installed it before you) and follow the steps of the wizard (the application is linked to your mobile phone number, which you will need to confirm). It's simple.

If all the above conditions are met, then we proceed directly to installing WhatsApp on your computer or laptop. To do this, go to the official website mentioned above https://www.whatsapp.com(I draw your attention to the aggravated lately and I advise you to follow the advice given in the link safe use network) and go to the file downloads section on the tab of the same name " Download" .

There we select the operating system - Windows or Mac. Then everything is as always - select the download location on your PC, after the download process is complete, open the WhatsAppSetup.exe file and follow the steps of the installation wizard.

P.S. Personally, my installation of WhatsApp on my PC froze at the very beginning (on Windows 10). However, everything worked when I right-clicked on the WhatsAppSetup.exe file and selected the “Run as administrator” option:

It is possible that this may also be useful to someone.

After the installation process reaches the stage shown in the screenshot below, you will need to open WhatsApp on your smartphone and follow the instructions on this page (depending on the type of your mobile device— Android, iPhone or something else):

The most important thing here is located in the left top corner, because it is he who will allow you to synchronize data between the version of WhatsApp on your computer and on your mobile phone. Accordingly, now you will need to take your smartphone and open whatsapp app, then open the menu in the upper right corner (click on the ellipsis) and select WhatsApp Web:

You will say (click) “ok, okay” and you will get the opportunity to recognize the QR code, after which you will immediately see your contact sheet WhatsApp on your computer in a separate window of the newly installed program:

It is extremely easy to use - just a few menu items and convenient tools in the communication windows.

Let us remind you that WhatsApp must be installed on your smartphone and running all the time while you are working with this program on your PC! If the phone is turned off, there will be no Internet on it or the application will be inactive, Whatsapp on the computer will not work either.

WhatsApp Web - go to WhatsApp via a browser (online)

The developers of the application (by the way, it was bought by Facebook several years ago for lard of evergreens) on their official website (mindful of the aspirations of their users) offer not only a version of the program for a computer, but also the ability to access WhatsApp online, i.e. via a web browser.

In this case, you don’t even need to install anything - just on the official website https://www.whatsapp.com go to the “WhatsApp Web” tab or you can immediately follow the link: https://web.whatsapp.com/ (it makes sense to immediately so as not to look for it later).

Next, the algorithm of actions is the same as after installing the application on your computer (see just above) - go to WhatsApp from your smartphone, go there (on your phone) to the “WhatsApp Web” tab from the top drop-down menu and recognize the QR code with your phone, shown on web.whatsapp.com.

After this you immediately get access to the web version of WhatsApp directly from your browser window on your computer (that is, online).

True, the smartphone will still have to be kept on running application WhatsApp and available internet access. Otherwise, “there will be no kin.” But it’s still very convenient and I’m glad that the developers themselves are finally concerned about the convenience of their users.

Good luck to you! See you soon on the pages of the blog site

Today's world of communications has become so familiar to us, and if any device goes out of tune (breaks or simply discharges), then the user sometimes not only loses his mood, but even develops depression and panic. WhatsApp decided to protect you from dangerous psychological trauma and gives you the opportunity to use the application even when the device is out of network coverage. The operation of WhatsApp without a network connection is possible by installing the WhatsApp Web program.

What is WhatsApp Web?

VotsApp Web is a special virtual cloud created by Votsapp developers. The point is that normal communication activities can be carried out using installed browser and Internet connections.
To install/connect to WhatsApp Web, you need to follow a short but very effective instruction that will help you get back to communicating in the shortest possible time. So take note step by step plan actions:

  • Start up your PC, tablet or laptop (any device on which you are comfortable working);
  • Connect to the World Wide Web;
  • Go to official internet– WhatsApp portal (http://whatsapp.com);
  • Choose the most fast browser(so that lags, crashes and long downloads did not interfere with your communication). The fastest and efficient browsers was recognized in 2016 Google Chrome. The updated version of Google Chrome allows you to absorb less Internet traffic, but at the same time, quickly load the necessary pages. In second place in terms of efficiency, they note Opera browser, which also lacks lags, but contains excessive advertising.

How to use WhatsApp Web?

Unfortunately, you will still need your phone, even if only for a few minutes. The bottom line is that the developers do not provide for independent installation on devices other than a smartphone. Therefore, to synchronize data, you must allow logging into your account through another device. You can synchronize data using secret code who will call the number mobile phone. If you have problems with your smartphone, then simply put the card in someone else’s phone, wait for the SMS and return everything back.
In theory, you are on the official WhatsApp page;

  • Go to the “Menu” and click on the link https://web.whatsapp.com, which will take you to WhatsApp Web;
  • You will be presented with a symbolic window where you will be asked to enter a code;
  • Transfer the digital combination from your phone to this field.

This combination will help you completely transfer WhatsApp from your phone to the Internet world and browser. In addition, you will be shown all the information regarding your calls and messages that were sent earlier. Another plus is that if you receive a media file, it will not be saved on your computer automatically, and this operation will only happen when you return to your phone.

It is also worth remembering one simple fact: your WhatsApp in a browser is less secure than in a smartphone. Therefore, when exchanging information, carefully filter what you want to say. In addition, do not get carried away with a meeting on WhatsApp through a browser, because this program not intended for this. Therefore, use the web version only when absolutely necessary, for the sake of own safety and amenities.

Answers to frequently asked questions

I will answer the most important ones right away frequently asked questions readers (but if there are more, ask them in the comments)

I don't have WhatsApp on my mobile phone. Will I be able to use the service from a computer, as you described in this article?

No, you can't. Availability mobile version strictly required!

Where is the registration button?

She doesn't exist. I repeat that registration on WhatsApp is possible ONLY from your phone.

Will this WhatsApp work on my computer if I turn off my phone?

No, it won't. Look at the picture above, it clearly says: “Don't turn off your phone!” As soon as you turn off your smartphone (or the Internet simply disappears), the messenger will stop working.

In which browsers will the program work?

Currently only Chrome, FireFox, Opera are supported. Moreover, they are only supported latest versions these browsers, so I recommend updating them.

I have an iPhone. Why can't I launch the web version?

Unfortunately, this service is currently only available to owners of phones under Android control. Undoubtedly, soon all this will work for the lucky iPhone owners, but now they will have to wait =(.

Will I have to take a photo of this QR code every time?

No, this is done only once, and the system remembers the code data.

Can I send photos from my computer?

Yes you can. Just click on the button in the chat with the “paperclip” icon and select the desired photo (or take a photo with your webcam):

So, the web version is very simple and straightforward. Enjoy using it and please ask questions in the comments.

I don’t promise that I will answer all the questions, but surely one of the other readers will help.

Update. There is an official opportunity to put this wonderful program on regular computer. Here's a short video about this:

Update: Finally, it is possible to call friends directly from WhatsApp. Details here.

On a phone or tablet, but do not use it on a computer. Of course, you can install a client for PC, but this is not always convenient. It turns out that the developers have provided a way to communicate on WhatsApp via a computer without downloading the program and even without entering a password. Just go to your browser.

How to open WhatsApp on a computer through a browser

When you go to web.whatsapp.com, you will see this message.

Now open mobile application WhatsApp from your smartphone and go to home page applications. Select Settings by pressing the three dots button.

Now click on the plus sign in the upper right corner of the screen to create a new session.

Hold your smartphone up to your computer screen and scan the QR code provided with your camera. There is no need to enter any passwords or logins. The connection process takes 1-2 seconds.

How to Clear WhatsApp Messages in Browser

If you log into the messenger from someone else's computer, do not forget to delete the correspondence session. This can be done even without access to that particular PC. Log in to the application on your phone, go to the web interface settings again, click the Sign Out button from all devices. Without turning on the phone, the messenger window in the browser is useless to an attacker. He will not read any messages, will not recognize your login or phone number.

When you open the messenger web interface in another browser window or on another device, the following message will appear.

Click Use here, sessions on other PCs will be disconnected automatically.

If you need to write a long message or send a file from your computer via WhatsAPP, the easiest way is to open your browser and initiate a web session. No client software installation is required. The method works from tablets, laptops and any other devices with an Internet browser.
