Huawei MediaPad X2: another Chinese tablet phone. Huawei MediaPad X2 – stylish and powerful tablet phone Huawei x2

The line between smartphones and tablets continues to blur, becoming thin, almost invisible. Numerous and quite popular “plafonds” (smart phones, phablets - choose from these stupid words the one that you personally like) like the Samsung GALAXY Note - something in between smartphones and tablets - are to blame for this. And overall dimensions mobile phones have grown significantly over the past couple of years. Determine what exactly is in front of you - big smartphone or a small tablet, it’s not always easy these days.

Historically, gadgets with a display diagonal of seven inches or more are considered to be tablets, and those with a smaller display diagonal are considered smartphones. The MediaPad X2 has a screen of exactly seven inches. That is, by nomenclature (and by name) it is a tablet. However, the gadget turned out to be so compact that, if necessary and with due diligence, it can fit in some wide pocket of a jacket or jacket. In addition, you can make calls from it in GSM networks, and it has two slots for SIM cards at its disposal. So Huawei MediaPad X2 is another bright representative of the “smart tablet” subclass.

⇡ Appearance and ergonomics

The exterior of the MediaPad X2 is exactly the same as its predecessor, the MediaPad X1. The dimensions of the tablet cases and their weight are the same up to tenths of a millimeter and a gram, respectively. There are no significant changes in the appearance of the device. The main feature of the MediaPad X1/X2 exterior is the very thin frames around the screen. At the top and bottom they do not exceed two centimeters, and at the sides the count goes on in millimeters. The display occupies about 80% of the front panel area, which is very good.

The tablet body is still made of metal. The device is well assembled - there are enough stiffening ribs in the structure. The gadget does not creak or bend when the sides are squeezed, and characteristic colored streaks do not appear on the matrix.

Like the X1, the X2 does not have any hardware keys on the front panel; all buttons are exclusively on-screen. At the top of the front panel there is a front-facing, five-megapixel camera lens, a mesh conversational dynamics(by the way, another smartphone attribute) and a light sensor peephole.

Perhaps the only noticeable difference in appearance between the X2 and X1 is that new version An additional universal connector has appeared next to the power and volume keys. It can be used for a microSD memory card or for a second SIM card of the nano-SIM standard. The predecessor could only work with one SIM card.

The body of the device is not too plump, its thickness is 7.2 millimeters. Narrow frames and low thickness make it easy to hold with one hand. Moreover, with proper dexterity, you can press the screen with the thumb of the same hand. The device weighs only 239 grams - it does not weigh down a backpack or bag much, and your hands do not get tired. Overall, the tablet is well suited for travel or other outdoor use cases.

From the point of view of ergonomics, the gadget turned out to be successful. All the connectors are in their places, you don’t have to look for them, you get used to the tablet quickly. The micro-USB interface is located on the bottom end, and the 3.5 mm audio jack for connecting a wired headset is on the top. The device is equipped with two microphones, with the help of which an active noise reduction system is implemented.

The surface of the back panel of the device is rough, so it does not try to slip out of your hands during operation. The case, as usual, is non-separable. On the back panel there is a main 13-megapixel camera lens and an external speaker slot.

New Huawei MediaPad X2 tablet, shown in Barcelona this spring, has finally reached the shelves of domestic stores. Well, how? Virtual shelves. The new product has improved characteristics, more sleek design and is currently one of the best solutions designed to replace two devices at once: a smartphone and a tablet.

The Huawei MediaPad X2 package consists of:

  • the tablet itself
  • power supply (5V, 2A)
  • Micro USB cable

The set is modest. There are only the essentials, so we won’t dwell on this point.

Design

Huawei proudly states that the screen occupies 80% of the front panel area, and the thickness of the tablet is only 7.18 mm. I confirm: all this really does have a positive effect on both design and operation.

Firstly, the tablet looks stylish and even elegant. There is no heaviness inherent in tablet phones. And secondly, the tablet has become more comfortable to hold in your hands.

Let's make an amendment: it is easier to hold and use the X2 as a main device compared to all players in this genre. In this regard, the hero of our review can perhaps be called the best solution, which can make calls like a telephone and has a large screen like a tablet. It can be safely used as a replacement for two devices at once, if, of course, you feel the need, and most importantly, the readiness for such an experiment.

For lovers small smartphones with a screen diagonal of 4.5 - 5 inches, the MediaPad X2 is still a tablet that can make calls.

For those who have long been tired of the diagonal Samsung Galaxy Note 4 or even Sony Xperia Z Ultra can safely turn their attention and wallets towards the product from Huawei.

For greater clarity, I propose to compare the dimensions of the X2 with the previous model, as well as its main competitors.

I tried carrying the device in my front jeans pockets. The tablet fits, but clearly does not provide comfort. Especially in a sitting position. After all, the device is designed to be carried in a bag or, at most, in the inside pocket of a jacket.

Touch buttons are part of the system interface, thereby freeing up space for a comfortable grip of the device in landscape orientation.

The frames on the sides of the display are quite large (about 4 mm), however, making them smaller will reduce usability. Now the device is comfortable to hold with one hand or two. Thinner bezels would increase the number of accidental clicks.

Along the perimeter of the front side there is a slightly protruding protective glass side. It protects the screen from small, scratchy particles getting underneath it when the device is lying face down.

There is a large metal plate at the back, and there are plastic inserts at the top and bottom. They cover the antennas for transmitting wireless signals. Closer to the bottom there are holes for the speaker. By the way, it is loud and even slightly bassy. At maximum volume, the entire body of the tablet begins to resonate noticeably. There is a chance that even on a noisy street you can watch your favorite TV series without using headphones. Enjoy it while it's summer!

As for colors, there’s not much to choose from. The device comes in a gold or white-silver case. We'll be happy to see that we'll be selling a gold version, which differs from the white version in that it has a larger built-in storage capacity (32 versus 16 GB).

Display

This component is at the forefront here. From it, like from a stove, all the characteristics of the device dance. It uses a 7-inch screen, which is right at the junction of two categories of devices. The smaller diagonal is used in smartphones, the larger one confidently hints that we are already looking at a full-fledged tablet. However, we have already discussed this point, so we return to the topic of the section.

  • IPS display 7 inches,
  • resolution 1920 x 1200, 323 ppi

Full HD resolution is quite enough here. Fonts, interface icons and other objects - everything looks smooth, without pixelation. Quad HD screen obviously not needed here. In addition, processor resource consumption and power consumption would increase.

The protective glass has a practical oleophobic coating. Fingerprints and fine dust practically do not accumulate on its surface.

The viewing angles are excellent. When tilted, there is no inversion or fading of the picture. The brightness drops, but that's par for the course.

Technical specifications of Huawei MediaPad X2 (model GEM-701L)

First, let's look at the key components of the device:

  • processor HiSilicon Kirin 930, 2.0 GHz, (64-bit, 4 cores - 2.0 GHz + 4 others - 1.5 GHz)
  • video chip Mali-T628 MP4 680 MHz
  • i3 IntelliSense support processor
  • RAM 3 GB LPDDR3 (1820 MB free on a clean device)
  • 32 GB built-in storage (available for 24.02 GB user files
  • Supports Micro SD cards up to 128 GB
  • connectors: Micro USB 2.0 (OTG), 3.5 mm audio output
  • sensors: light and proximity sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass
  • OS Android 5.0 (Lollipop) + EMUI 3.0.5 (upgrade to Android 5.1 and EMUI 3.1 expected)

I’ll tell you a little about the processor, since the name Kirin may seem unfamiliar to some. The 930th model is built on 28-nanometer technology using big.LITTLE architecture, has 4 Cortex-A53e cores operating at 2 GHz, and 4 Cortex-A53 cores at 1.5 GHz.

The system on a chip also includes dual channel memory LPDDR3, the data transfer speed of which can reach 12.8 GB/sec.

Part of the system is the Mali-T628 MP4 video chip, operating at an overclocked frequency of 680 MHz. In terms of performance, the graphics adapter can compete with the popular Adreno 330 solution ( Snapdragon processor 800) or PowerVR G6430 (Apple A7 processor). In other words, we are dealing with quite outdated solution, released back in 2013. We'll check the actual gaming performance a little later.

Initially (this spring) it was announced that a younger version of the tablet with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory would also go on sale. And what's the result? There were two modifications on the shelf with 16 and 32 gigs of built-in storage, but only 3 GB of RAM.

  • GSM (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
  • HSPA+ (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • LTE Cat 6, FDD-LTE bands: 1, 3, 7, 20 / TDD: 38, 40
  • support for two SIM cards: the first slot is for Micro SIM, the second is available for installing a Nano SIM or memory card - one thing at a time
  • Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n) two channels: 2.4 and 5 GHz
  • Bluetooth 4.0 with support for A2D, EDR, BLE profiles
  • GPS / A-GPS, Glonass

As for the rest, in my opinion, the X2 lacks only two things to classify it as a flagship device among tablet phones.

The first is NFC. The technology is gradually taking root in the world around us (subway, information desks, cafes) and has long ceased to be something unknown, known only in the geek community.

The second is a fingerprint scanner. There is no serious need to install this sensor, but this component is installed on many modern devices. And the MediaPad X2 somehow fell out of the mainstream.

In any case, Huawei MediaPad X2 is quite modern solution, which will cope with any tasks that the user can load it with. However, in terms of specifications, our tablet cannot be called a breakthrough. The epithet balanced is what suits the device best.

Performance

It will best show us the capabilities of the device gaming performance. With toys like N.O.V.A. 3 and Mortal Kombat X Our Chinese did it easily. The only thing was that there were noticeable slowdowns in the fighting game in several particularly dynamic scenes with smoke and mirrors, so to speak. Otherwise there are no problems.

And when starting toys, the backrest gets noticeably warm. Not a frying pan, of course, but in winter you can play and warm your hands.

Ultra HD video (2160p) plays with difficulty. You can watch it, but it was not possible to achieve ideal smoothness of the video stream. Perhaps a more careful selection of codecs and the source file will improve the situation.

The system benchmark results are quite good. In AnTuTu X2 scored 46,716 points (64-bit test). Other details are below, in the screenshots.

Main camera

On the back of the smartphone there is a 13 megapixel camera with LED flash. Maximum resolution The output images are 4160 x 3120 pixels.

  • aperture f/ 2.0
  • BSI sensor (with backlit matrix)
  • 5-element lens
  • optical image stabilization

Overall, the photo quality is good. At the level flagship smartphones 2012 - 2013, and among tablets everything is quite consistent with the time. Manufacturers are in no hurry to equip large devices with high-quality photosensors. Beautiful, bright, clear photographs are still the domain of smartphones. Tablets are lagging behind and the X2 is a real proof of this.

The original photographs can be obtained from here.

The HDR feature is useless for my taste.

In dark places, detail does not appear, the illuminated areas remain illuminated, only the picture becomes flatter and that’s all.

There is a very interesting (at first glance) option called “Light”. In this mode, you can choose what exactly you plan to shoot: the light of night lamps, light graffiti, shooting water (the effect of watercolor paint) or the trajectories of stars (now, in August, the topic is relevant). In fact, this script activates special color filters (in fact, there is nothing special about them) and significantly increases shutter speed. You control the latter yourself by pressing the central shutter button.

Here is an example of a regular photo (on the left) and with the water shooting function turned on (on the right). By the way, it was filmed with the camera resting on a bench, that is, without a tripod.

And this is an example of how the stars move in the sky, or rather our planet relative to them. The trajectory turned out to be small, since the shutter speed was only 3 minutes.

There is nothing interesting in all this only for the reason that such functionality is easily expanded using a third-party photo application and is available for any smartphone or tablet. Some manufacturers are already equipping their devices with the ability to shoot in full manual mode, like on a camera, where you can control not only shutter speed, but also depth of field, ISO and other parameters.

The tablet shoots videos in a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 fps. Sounds great in theory, not so much in practice. The detail of the frames is poor, on a bright sunny day there are continuous overexposures, the sound is flat and ringing. It feels like the actual video resolution of 720p was simply stretched by software to Full HD level. I haven’t yet held a tablet in my hands that shoots decent videos, and after testing the MediaPad X2, nothing has changed. Example below.

Front camera

Its main advantages are as follows:

  • 5 megapixels
  • 22mm wide angle lens
  • pixel size 1.4 um
  • the ability to create panoramic selfies

As for the quality of the images, then, as with rear camera, here the situation repeats itself. The level of photography matches what we saw in the top selfie backdrops of the past, 2014. Today, there are quite a lot of devices that make self-portraits much better. This is not to say that the X2 takes bad pictures, but they also cannot be called the best.

Of course, the fashionable skin retouching function has not gone away. There is a mode for creating a panoramic selfie so that the whole company can fit in.

Battery life

On this point, our hero stands out among his competitors, and even more so compared to smartphones.

  • battery 5000 mAh (non-removable)
  • standby mode - 120 hours
  • standard use - 72 hours
  • active use - 36 hours

The above is data directly from the manufacturer. None additional parameters not indicated, but the testimony is indeed truthful. Under a very heavy load, the tablet will easily last a full day, and perhaps even a day and a half.

With average use, the device will last three days. A very real indicator that is not available to any modern and more or less powerful smartphone.

As with all other Huawei products, advanced power consumption optimization settings are built into the system. Mainly, three energy consumption modes are available: normal, balanced (the device itself will analyze the ongoing processes and set required settings iron) and maximum. In the latter case, the tablet turns into a black and white “photo frame” with the function of making calls and receiving SMS. No other functions work.

However, the user himself can tinker with the parameters and adjust them to his own needs. For this there is everything you need: various work analyzer applications software. Some programs can be blocked from accessing the network, other utilities can be removed from the startup list, and so on. The result will definitely improve the autonomy indicator.

Bottom line

Huawei MediaPad X2 turned out to be an excellent universal device that can successfully replace both a smartphone and a tablet. Moreover, in some respects it is significantly ahead of its competitors from adjacent weight categories. A striking example is the battery.

The tablet also turned out to be a worthy continuation of its predecessor. The device has moved forward significantly in terms of technical characteristics. The system has become more stable and, in general, is well optimized.

However, the device cannot be called the maximum. What's missing is a truly serious, flagship camera and a more modern graphics subsystem. However, from a purely practical point of view, there is no serious need for this. As usual, the most powerful chips and latest technologies find real application in life only 6 or even 12 months after release. And the hardware installed in the X2 has already passed the break-in period since the time of .

Don't forget that the tablet has one more trump card. For now Huawei MediaPad X2 price is 19,990 rubles, which automatically makes all his “colleagues in the shop” uncompetitive. Now for this price you can buy some mid-range smartphone, but not a modern, powerful tablet, which beats this smartphone on all fronts. However, Huawei has managed to make an exception to this rule.

Reviews of the Huawei MediaPad X2 32Gb tablet

Yandex.Market data

Rating: 5 out of 5

Advantages: 1. A unique combination of linear dimensions (thin “phone” frames around the “tablet” screen), aspect ratio (very rare for phones 16:10) and screen diagonal (7 inches): the device is truly capable of replacing both a phone and a tablet . 2. Very good design both the case and the official case, high-quality materials (metal case). 3. Good autonomy - it survives daylight hours with plenty of reserve when using both the tail and the mane. 4. For its price, powerful hardware (octa-core of our own design) and a solid amount of RAM (3 GB, I have never encountered a lack of memory during operation) 5. The functionality of the official case with a window includes auto-locking, time, weather, answering calls, photos. 6. It is possible to update to Android 5.1.1 and 6.0 7. The official Russian version at the beginning of sales had a very attractive price. 8. A small but active and friendly community of owners on 4pda 9. 4G can be enabled on any of the two SIM cards 10. The phone fits comfortably in a jacket pocket. 11. The bracelet (mi band) and wireless headset remove all the inconveniences of using the device for voice calls. 12. All domestic 4G bands are supported - in many places other 4G devices do not receive

Disadvantages: 1. Support for the Russian (European version) is disgusting - not a single update, despite the fact that the original version only has about a dozen major bugs. The problem is solved by flashing the Asian version of the firmware according to the manuals from the website 4pda 2. The “Voice Notifications” program does not work (goes numb) with the Asian firmware 3. To combine two SIM cards and a memory card you need to work fairly and painstakingly with the handles 4. The camera is noticeably lower level compared to competitors in price - unfortunately, the manufacturer left some atavisms of “tablet” origin 5. No NFC - in Moscow its presence allows you to top up your Troika card, as well as write any subscription to it, simply by tapping it to your phone. Other methods require getting to a cash desk or terminal. 6. The processor is unpopular with game manufacturers, the video accelerator is weak compared to price competitors, and performance in some games may sag. It’s really not critical for me, I don’t play.

Comment: Excellent device, single-handedly forming a unique niche in the class mobile devices"all in one". This phone has nothing to do in trouser pockets. I wish the manufacturer further development of the X line (X1, X2) and more attention to Russian customers.

Pros: - Screen (bright, rich colors, sensitive sensor) - Battery. Immediately after the purchase I went on vacation, the device worked with the GSM connection turned off, used WiFi, the camera and as an e-reader, on average 3-4 hours a day. The battery lasted 9 days!!! In everyday life I use it not as a tablet, but as a main smartphone, on average it lasts 40-50 hours - Built-in and RAM capacity. Everything works quickly, even power-hungry applications, personally, my SD card is even smaller than the built-in memory... now I don’t know what to do with it :) - Camera (especially HDR mode), the pictures come out extremely successful, juicy, focus works great (depending on what the focus is set on, the photo changes dramatically). The camera performed well both on a sunny day and in a poorly lit room. - Sound. If the volume of the external speaker is set to maximum, then incoming call It’s audible not only throughout the entire apartment, but it seems to me that the neighbors can hear it too :) (so this is the first device on which I have the volume at medium). The sound quality in the headphones, in my opinion, is excellent, but I'm not that much of a music connoisseur... - Software stuffing. There are many built-in features that allow you to manage applications (which can run in background, which ones are not, who should be given access to mobile internet, and for some only to WiFi, etc.). Built-in cache cleaner, a small thing, but nice... - Ability to make voice calls. For me, this plus was decisive, since I bought it to replace my smartphone. - Since I bought it on pre-order, it came with a cover. In my opinion it's so extreme useful thing, but there is a drawback (more about it below) - Nothing superfluous (no fingerprint sensors, curved screens, etc.). That's why good value price-quality, in my opinion.

Disadvantages: I can’t say that there are any serious disadvantages. There are features that you need to get used to. - Size, but it depends for what purpose it was purchased and on the size of the hands. I bought it to replace a smartphone, and not just as a tablet, so I had to get used to the fact that it doesn’t fit in every pocket, so I ended up carrying it in my bag and often using the headset... (in general, I knew what I was getting into when I ordered it ) - Color. It's a shame that this package only gold color, but the case eliminates this drawback. - If you open the case completely (throw the lid back), it covers the camera, so you only have to take pictures when it’s unfolded... This drawback manifested itself when a sharp gust of wind almost tore it out of my hands :)

Comment: I’ve been using it for 1 month (and I’ve been waiting for it to appear in Russia since March). I didn’t make a mistake at all, I’m as happy as an elephant! The device is great for both those who need a tablet and those who need a large smartphone.

Advantages: 1. Speed. All the programs I need work quickly, without annoying delays. 2. “Catches” the signal perfectly. Where HTC One M7 did not connect to the Internet at all, this device allows you to surf comfortably. 3. Optimal sizes(for me, I repeat). The device sometimes fits well not only in a jacket pocket, but also in the breast pockets of some shirts. 4. The ability to use the device not only as a tablet, but also as a phone. 5. Really good screen. High-quality color reproduction, wide viewing angles, no non-switchable dynamic brightness/backlight adjustment (that is, I don’t notice brightness jumps depending on the content being displayed), optimal resolution. There are no glares that would be visible in the dark. 6. Dual SIM card, in which both SIM cards work simultaneously (one can, for example, be configured for the Internet, and the second for calls). This is convenient, since in different areas of the city there are different operators Signal quality may vary greatly. 7. Energy consumption. The device works for a really long time. From early morning until night, the device can be actively used. This device looks especially advantageous in comparison with the HTC One M7, for which everything became very sad after the transition to Lollipop - the HTC sometimes didn’t even last until 15.00 (and this is taking into account the fact that the brightness on the HTC was lower than on Huawei). 8. Good build. High-quality metal case, in which everything fits as it should. There is no feeling of any cheapness.

Disadvantages: 1. The main significant disadvantage! When the device goes to sleep, push notifications do not arrive, that is, notifications from Viber and Mail.ru. This, of course, is annoying - after all, we are talking about a device from which you expect instant notification of incoming messages. Naturally, I set all notification permissions in the settings. HTC One M7 does not have this problem. If anyone knows how to solve this problem, I would be very glad to have the information. 2. The device did not connect via bluetooth to Sony speaker SRS-X7. More precisely, he didn’t see this column at all.

Comment: I described my first impressions of the X2 (of course, this is about my personal assessment and the assessment of other people may differ). In some points I compared it with the HTC One M7 I have. I’m talking about the Huawei X2 GEM-701L (“Russian” version, purchased in the official store shop.huawei.ru. I made a pre-order (for 19,990 with a case) in early August). Firmware – B002.

Advantages: It works quickly, does not heat up, lasts for 2 days with active use, charges quickly, fully in 2.5 - 3 hours. The sound is excellent, both in quality in music and when talking with an interlocutor. The speakerphone is really loud. It handles heavy games perfectly, watching movies and surfing the Internet is a pleasure.

Disadvantages: Now about the bad. 1. In games and some programs, the illumination constantly decreases on its own, whether with auto illumination or without auto illumination. You have to swipe from top to bottom and add. A minute later, the same thing. And the backlight itself is not adjusted in proportion to the scale - the middle does not regulate anything at all, all adjustment occurs closer to the edges of the scale - either in the leftmost position it decreases, or in the very right it increases. 2. Notifications do not work until you wake the device from sleep in all messengers such as Viber and programs email, I don’t use the built-in one. All application permissions are enabled in settings. 3. A glitch was noticed in the notes when selecting text to copy - the right handles, when moving, constantly move to the left close to the left ones. 4. In phone mode, the dialing screen breaks when you press the second digit. You have to call through your contact list. 5. Third-party players do not display control buttons on the locked screen when playing, even if this is specified in application permissions. Huawei seems to be mocking consumers of these products! Updates are constantly coming out for the GEM-703L, but it’s as if the MediaPad X2 GEM-701L is forgotten and forgotten. There is no doubt, the device is excellent, but I have never seen such a disregard for software updates from any company. They promised people on 4pda that it would come out in the spring, but it’s already summer! Hardware for a year without updates or bug fixes. 6. There are no bumper cases, I had to order them from Ali.

Huawei MediaPad X2 – stylish and powerful tablet [Review]

In 2015 Huawei company after more than a long development stage, it releases its MediaPad X2.

The first representative of the X series a year before, I can’t say that it broke the market, but it appealed to many.

This is a fairly decent tablet phone with a 7-inch screen.

In fact, it combines the functions of a tablet and a smartphone and can be considered both.

This model is not some kind of bedside device that cannot be used in transport or in other environments where there is very little space.

At the same time, it is quite powerful and inexpensive. Now let's talk about everything in order.

Contents:

The main competitors of the device in question are Asus Memo Pad ME572CL, Apple iPad mini 3 and, of course, the first X.

Performance

As mentioned above, this model is equipped with HiSilicon Kirin 930. The big.LITTLE scheme is used with two clusters of 4 cores each.

This is a fairly common option today, which is used in many similar devices.

As the main competitor of the HiSilicon Kirin 930, it is customary to mention the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, which also has two clusters of 4 cores each.

As for which one is more powerful, there is no clear answer to this question yet - both show themselves very well.

Sony Xperia Z4, which has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, earned 55,489 parrots. By the way, such processors are not used in tablets with a diagonal of 7 inches, mostly 10 or 10.1.

When compared with other tablets that have the same screen size, the same Asus Memo Pad ME572CL could only reach 39865.

And the Apple iPad mini 3 has 41,000. As you can see, in terms of performance, the device we are considering outperforms its main competitors.

Its processor is much more powerful than other models with the same diagonal. Other tests show the same result.

It is noteworthy that when all available cores are running The Huawei representative has no equal among its competitors.

So, according to Geekbench 3 estimates, it has 3729 versus 1644 for the first X and 2481 for the Apple tablet.

But if you use only one core, the Media Pad performs slightly worse - 862 versus 545 and 1377, respectively.

Table 2 shows the results of gaming benchmarks, which will be very interesting for gamers.

Table 2. Comparison by gaming benchmarks

*Where there are dashes, it is implied that no one conducted the testing.

As you can see, the Mediapad X2 has become much better than the first generation tablet, but is still inferior in at least one Asus test Memo Pad ME572CL. In any case, 58.8 fps is a very good indicator. The games will definitely not glitch or freeze.

In the video below you can see gaming test in Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Memory

There are two types of tablets of this model. One with RAM 2 GB and its own 16 GB, the other with 3 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

It also supports a memory card up to 128 GB, which is quite a lot these days.

This memory is quite enough to perform all the main tasks, many at once, and play heavy games.

Also, the internal storage can accommodate the entire volume of your photos, videos, films, documents and other materials.

It is very important that this model has an expansion slot, which allows you to add a lot of memory.

Battery

The battery capacity is 5000 mAh, as in the first MediaPad X. It is clear that the predecessor had weaker hardware, so the operating time was longer.

By default, Huawei operates in a power-saving mode, which slightly reduces the power of the device.

This does not cause it to freeze or glitch, except after many years of use. But no one is immune from this.

The “normal” mode seems to be the most optimal for use.

If you measure the operating time when reading, watching games local video and online video, you will get quite interesting results.

We decided to compare two Xs from Huawei and the PocketBook SURFpad 4 M, which can also be considered a competitor to the model in question.

As you can see, the difference between the Xs is very small, but it is interesting that when watching online videos, the X2 will last longer than the X1. What this is connected with is quite difficult to understand.

Charging time for the X2 is approximately 2.45 hours. As for the operating time numbers themselves, then they look like this:

  • in game – 4.47 hours;
  • when watching video – 15.21 hours;
  • when reading 21 hours.

For comparison, the same Apple iPad mini 3 has 5.3, 10.3 and 13.4 hours, respectively. That is, it will last longer, but in other modes it will not.

The same picture is observed in comparison with other devices.

Cameras

This model has two cameras – 13 MP and 5 MP(main and front, respectively).

This is also a standard for modern gadgets of this type. It’s interesting that if we talk about resolution, nothing has changed compared to the MediaPad X1, but in terms of ease of use and image quality, a lot has changed.

The newer version has a much more convenient and concise photo application.

However, this is due to an update to the EMUI shell, that is, to the interface, and not to the camera itself. We will return to this in the next section.

We can say about the application that it is made for amateurs, not for professionals.

There are settings here, but they are not too deep.

As for the quality of pictures, the device is more than good at this. The photos are high quality and rich.

The detailing is also very good high level– you can zoom multiple times and see the smallest images in the picture.

Daytime photo

At night, the picture is not so pleasant, especially if you are shooting objects in dynamics, that is, those that are moving.

In this case, glare and distortion of the images are observed. All this, of course, is not very pleasant.

Although, of course, it is possible and even necessary to see something.

Photos at night

Video recordings, however, turn out simply beautiful and clear.

The problem with shooting in the dark is the same as with photography - the picture is bad.

As we found out, this is due to autofocus brakes.

The same picture is observed when using front camera, although it is best to just take selfies and not use it for full-fledged photography.

Although autofocus is there also quite slow.

There are no translation inaccuracies, symbols that for some reason are drawn on top of others, or similar troubles. Everything is done conscientiously.

There are many signature elements.

For example, we are talking about the notification panel, in which events seem to be strung together on a single scale.

Queries look very good and interesting in this version.

Initially in operating system There are many tools available to control the device.

We are talking about an antivirus, an application for cleaning all kinds of garbage, for online access, for other information from prying eyes, for setting a password, and so on.

There are quite a lot of such tools here, which is good news.

It is important that no conflicts or overloads arise in this case - everything works efficiently and quickly.

Pros and cons

From all of the above, you can form a definite opinion about the positive and negative aspects of this device. As for the advantages, here they are:

  • good screen (as for IPS);
  • Beautiful appearance(if you take the golden version);
  • very good battery life in different modes;
  • high-quality interface - everything is concise, simple and pleasing to the eye;
  • good quality of photos and videos (though not in the dark).
  • average sound;
  • non-standard button layout (you can get used to it).

Judging by the reviews, the device has no other shortcomings. Perhaps some people have some problems with the body, but this is the exception to the rule.

Usually you want to write about the product in more detail, but this is not the case. HUAWEI has created a truly MIRACLE device in the best sense of the word, both as a tablet and as a smartphone. MediaPad X2 - it's simply PERFECT

Gorgeous phone. Yes, yes, exactly the phone. I use this technology more as a communicator than a simple dialer. And this size is just right. I observe the dynamics of manufacturers' attitude towards screen sizes. And I can confidently say that this phone was a year ahead of other models. If now the most fashionable screen size is 5.5 inches and more and more people are looking at 6 inches, then after a while the most popular size will be 6 - 6.4 inches. And a size of 7 inches will be the height of sophistication and advancement. And we are already here. The screen is simply amazing in its quality. Performance is excellent, although I don't play games. But for work I think this is a great option. I am going to use it not only to make calls and watch the Internet, but also to work. After all, I am a computer geek and I use technology

Almost perfect model. First of all, in terms of operating time: if my Samsung tablets barely survived until the end of the day, then with Huawei 40-50% of the remaining charge by 12 at night is the norm. Everything is optimal: resolution, large amount of RAM...

I like almost everything about it. This is my second device in this form factor. Before this I used Huawei Media PadX1. This is my opinion, but this is the ideal form factor for a smartphone tablet and specifically 7 inches.

I like the size, the speed, the new android is nice and smooth. The camera focuses quickly, photos are quickly processed and stored in memory. In general, I was pleased with the camera application. The battery is used sparingly by the new Android. It lasts normally for 3 days, maybe 4 if you turn on the screen less often. VERY good welcome gsm. I work in a room behind thick walls and armored glass, I know what I’m talking about.

Basically, all the problems are in the crude firmware, which they are not in a hurry to update. There is no technical support either, they never give any useful advice. Also, the combined nanoSIm / microsd connector adds discomfort. I want everything, not to sacrifice something for something. Too clever with the settings. In general, the FIRMWARE still needs to be cut and cut

if only cosmetic - for example, you can’t edit the mini screen in the window without root

There are minor little things from the enhanced security, they are talked about on the forums and people continue to admire the creation!
